A lot of eye openers on that list, but Jeff Brohm of Purdue at $6.6M (#8) with a whopping $27.7M buyout stood out the most. Wonder how much longer that AD will be around......

Ogre put together a great staff, probably taking less money in order to do so. Likely get a bump in pay now, may just let the assistants have it to try and keep everyone in place for another season.

Hope A&M likes Jimbo because they’re sure stuck with him. 60.6m reasons why.

Would be interesting to see a total coaches budget next to the head coach. Gotta think lsu is way up there considering all the coaches

He was in the convo for most overrated in the game, but the second he signed that thing all discussions ended. Not sure even fooley could top that level of stupid.

He had a roster loaded with talent and he squeaked in a NC and then had a year in the playoff and got embarrassed, other than those two years at FSU with multiple 1st round quarterbacks he was a 4 loss coach.

Ogre is still over paid. He's the next gene chizik. You'll see when Brady and burrow leave.

No reason to pay him more since there is zero chance he ever leaves.

His cajun schtick won't play anywhere else.

I don't believe Ogre is a competent coach for a second. What this season proves is he does not need to be. Just be a figure head and ramble incoherently, as long as you hire the right people around you. Can he keep doing it once the current assistants leave, whether it is Aranda or Joe Brady?

i'll give orgeron credit for realizing his preferred way of doing things wasn't going to work and changing things on offense in a radical way. LSU always had NFL talent on offense, this is the first time we've seen them used this way. something muschamp and others have shown no desire or ability to do

He did mention that his plans for last night were to eat a ham sammich with his sons. Incoherent rambling, ham sammichs... might fit in well here.

Orge can recruit and for some reason kids love him. He can rally the troops. Now he finally put his ego aside and got smarter coaches do the Xs and Os. He is now just a CEO, whether it works long term or now who knows. But there are a lot of coaches who wouldn't be smarter enough or have too much of an ego to do something like that. You have to give him credit where it is due. A good leader knows when what they are doing isn't working, and is able to set aside their personal views/ego to move to change to what will work.

Ogre’s career has been interesting to say the least. He has always recruited well. I just don’t know if he’s the next Bobby Bowden (sustainable success through delegation to well-placed associates) or the next Jimbo (caught lightning in a bottle with one great QB). I’m thinking he’s more like Bowden. The biggest difference versus those FSU asshats is Ogre is in the SEC and the path still goes through Saban (and hopefully Mullen soon).

He’s not a bad coach winning in spite of himself. He has put together a complete staff and program. I’d take Ogre over every coach in the SEC right now, except Saban and Mullen. Who gives a **** how he talks? Elite players and coordinators seem to understand him just fine.
