I’m just glad he didn’t spell it dwag while giving props to Fat Face Todd.Need to work on his spelling of the word dog. Otherwise, I like it. Could be huge for us next year as guys like Lee and Dexter continue to develop. The last two weeks have been really good for us on the DL.
Ive been giving Mullen shade for the last few weeks now and he deserves it. But, he always seems to get some things fixed with the transfer portal.
Grantham is still our DC, so...

It's probably not going to do us any favors in terms of recruiting focus(probably will be a detriment actually), but as I said a few pages earlier, the Fl schools will continue to benefit from these situations. Kids from the state, and even from southern georgia will often have grown up pulling for one of the three big names(see Robinson to fsu). Assuming things aren't perfect, or just to experience something different, many will eventually end up here. As I said, it probably makes our staff even less "relentless" the first go around by constantly being bailed out, but it's the new reality and we'll have a lot of these going forward. So we'll continue to stress out every Jan when it looks like we'll have a massive position(s) hole. But then there'll be a temporary bandaid placed on it, maybe even with a big get.
Before I get the "it's not sustainable" response, this is not an endorsement of the approach and it's not exactly the way I'd like it scripted either. But we're going into year 4 of it and it's not completely not working either.
The other thing that may happen is some of the northern teams, or even as far as Clemson, that are currently raiding the state might shift some of their focus. As we learned with Steele and Bowman, if things don't go well, and these kids are given one free transfer, they are likely going to go back to their home region. If this were allowed in 2010, I'd be shocked if we kept Easley, Floyd or Powell for 3-4 years, and Shaw probably leaves even sooner. If these teams start losing key guys that they were counting on, and end up with a hole that derails a season, they may find it less appealing to bring in Fl kids. I'm not saying any of this will happen, just that it could. And the flipside will be we're facing fsu and um every year for kids and they'll be less likely to ever transfer, so we'll still need to step it up.
I think a reason being overlooked that probably helps Mullen in the portal is for the fact that our recruiting sucks. If we was better at recruiting we would have the problem of kids transferring out to programs with inferior talent so they can immediately see the field. That is sustainable and unpredictable. But crumbs drop to the floor.
I'll be honest, I think you're hammered right now.

But she can't get down on a knee. She has to bend from the waist. We need a girl to hold for field goals, just because I hate that we were one upped by Vanderbilt.
Didn't slayton opt out of the bowl game? How awkward would that be ?He's over 290 now and has steadily put on weight. I think Lang can get to 300 and still be effective. It seems everyone is down on him because he wasn't a super star this year when he played. It was his first year playing the position w/out a spring. I think w/ an off season, spring & fall practice he could be one of the most improved players along the DL. I don't think he'll be all-SEC, but if he can play 10-15 effective snaps that's a win.
The DL should be solid adding two P5 starters plus what's returning. Also, there's rumors Slaton may come back.
Adding an SEC caliber OT would be huge.

TOS says he's working w/ an NFL trainer and is likely gone. Would have been nice to get him back, but the two transfers are great.
Slayton is just a massive dude, he seems to have taken steps back this year. Everytime i saw him he had his hands in the air like he was being held every playIt'd be nice to have him back for depth. But, Slaton shouldn't come back. He'd be a backup to Shelton and Newkirk.

What am I saying? With Grantham it won't matter.
