My dad used to eat spearmint Velamints. My god what horrific candy that was. Even the square shape and odd indented middle made it seem like some type of narcotic.

Well I don’t think I’ve ever heard that at all. The again, I didn’t grow up watching Canadian cable.
Baby Ruth is my favorite; but Butterfingers are another guilty pleasure come Halloween too.
Haven't seen them sold anywhere in a long time, but the Oh Henry bars were always pretty good too (actually like those better than Payday or some of the other ones).
And some British favorites from childhood years over there were the Caramello bars or Crunchies (both from Cadbury) and Lion Bars were like their Snickers.
