Full disclosure, I liked some rap in my youth. I think guys like Tupac, Nas, Redman and OutKast actually were decent. The problem with that genre, and why I’m fine putting it up at the top of this list is two fold. One, I grew up and have seen a lot of the devastation it’s caused to its own community. And two, the “artists” today are a complete joke. As Durty said, it’s the same thing over and over again and simply not well done. I also respected Tupac being a thug, dying like a thug, and his mom just accepting that. Watching BIG’s mom on TV whining about her son getting shot was cringeworthy.
I don’t like country either, at all. But I also recognize that I didn’t grow up listening to it because my family didn’t. Old school country guys seem like they had staying power, so there’s probably a reason for that.
To settle this, how about we talk about the recent emulsion of rap and country. Can we arrest these people please?
