What About that Defense?

What seems to have been lost amidst all the QB talk today was that our D seems to be back to form. That was a lights out performance by a defense that was gashed, sliced and diced by Bama just two weeks ago. They totally dominated a Tennessee offense that put up 32 points on Georgia, AT Georgia last week. Very impressive.

What do you think? Have they turned the corner? Can we expect to see typical Florida D from this point forward?

we had some big games from guys who haven't been playing much. Tabor played well all game, and Bryan Cox Jr. was a beast.

Tabor, Neal and Cox were all fantastic!! Fowler and VH3 were Fowler and VH3. Great performance by those guys and clearly the reason we won the game.

we did tackle better, cover better and rush better...they did have a weaker freshman that Cox Jr was taking advantage of...thank god

I think so. Even the games we got gashed in, they played like this for most of the downs. But the downs they didn't were atrociously bad with blown assignments. They may have figured out who can execute consistently. Maye seems to be the only one getting beat in coverage.

Putting Poole back at nickel corner helped out as well. They really showed signs of who they can be today. I am impressed by the improvement.

We saw a lot of improvement, but there is plenty of room for more. In past years an eraser at safety would have broken up some of those completions and the hit would have slowed them down for most of the games.

The insertion of Tabor, and his playing well, transformed the secondary, allowing Poole back at nickel. Muschamp deserves credit for getting the defense right in the off week.

Yeah, though Treon may be the leading headline, the D won the game. If they could play this consistently for the rest of the year, they'd keep us in any game we play from here on out.

everyone keeps bringing up the Georgia game, but the Dawgs' defense is attrocious. can't put much stock in that.

having said that, the secondary looked 100% better. if we clear up the pre-snap confusion on defense, we may have something.

Agree completely. I don't agree with everything Muschamp did in this game, but he and his crew deserve a lot of credit for the defense's solid and clutch performance.

These were the best adjustments since a&m in 12
