It is. This isn’t the SEC of the 5-10 years ago. You’ve got UGA and Bama then a bunch of average teams.
This. Of those top 13 teams, only two really scare anyone. Ole Miss is a slightly above average team, and Lsu is a little better because of Daniels. Auburn is year 1 of a new coach, Uk was off, tennessee was off, Usce is a trashfire, we’re garbage.
And Missouri is essentially the Wake Forest of the SEC. Their being relevant is tied to at least 2 of the 3 East powers being average or worse. This year that was us and the vols. If all 3 are bad, they can even win the division(see ‘13, ‘14). Otherwise, they should have 3 losses baked in before they even get started. They’re not top 13. We almost beat them as a 5-7 team playing a backup Fr QB for the last 20 minutes. They’re simply ranked there by default.
The SEC as top heavy this year as it’s been in a while. This two teams would still probably pound Oregon and Washington, but what UW’s coach has done this year is impressive. And before some try to dismiss their success, because of having fifth and sixth year guys, we can’t even seem to keep players in-house for two years. There’s a culture that he has built that has laid the groundwork for this year. As opposed to the culture we’ve built under Napier, which is the equivalent of a cheaply made apartment building in Port-au-Prince.
