And who was quarterbacking during those final games? Hard to keep the defense fresh and motivated when they know the offense can barely manage a first down let alone actually score any points. Alai those last 3 games were against 3 of the best teams in the nation.

Agreed. I don't think this year's D is as good as last year. I could be wrong but there are some holes and we lost some studs. Again, only MHO

I don't know i see about the same talent level returning. Yeah we lost VHIII, Neal, Morrison and Bullard but Tabor will be every bit as good, Cece is a fine replacement for Bullard, and the rest of the line and secondary are filled with potential. If they improve and we cam stay healthy at LB we will be fine. Lb is the hide question mark here

I tend to agree but that defense in 2012 was special. I thought last year's d was pretty good. If we are settling for long FG's this team is in trouble. We're going to have to outscore the other team. I don't think the talent on the field is as good as year's past. We gave up 18.3 pts per game last year but 32+ PPG versus our last 3 opponents. I just think FGs are bad next year if we can't get in the endzone. I see more 31-28 games in our future than the 13-9 games.
Don't totally disagree, but you have to consider that the last 3 games were against our toughest opponents. That's a large part of why we gave up so many more points...along with our offense being zero threat at that point.

I think Bullard is the biggest loss.

Yeah we had FSU and Bama shut down for the most part until the defense got tired of carrying the entire team. Almost a whole season of that will wear you down.

The bowl game was whatever, the majority of these kids don't give two sh*ts about bowl games.

We had the record we had in 2012 in large part because we had Caleb Sturgis. Any time a defense knows that all they have to do is keep you out of the end zone to keep you from scoring, their job becomes a lot easier (like last year). If we're a legit scoring threat any time we cross the 40, that's a HUGE advantage in the college game.

Hell, we're a legit scoring threat any time we cross our 40.

:wtf: isn't the game on Saturday afternoon and coordinated with a softball or baseball game like it has been for decades before the Mustake?

And we don't need no damn running clock!
I like the idea of having it at night. Night game atmospheres are way better and we don't have to compete with 10 other schools on a Saturday afternoon for tv time. I personally like the move.

I haven't been to a spring game in years. This one is free. What do you do? Just show up and grab a seat?

Seats have never been assigned (unless of course you're the rich folk who have to sit in premium seats so you don't sweat).

Foley better get off his ass and raise some money. We're playing on Friday night because secn/espn told us to. If things don't change soon a thursday night home game is only a year or 2 away.

No need to sit in premium tonight. The weather should be near perfect. I wish I was going :(

Maybe. I didn't like the thought of playing on Friday since many recruits could not get up to see the game because they have class on Friday. However, Mac said this week that it fits better because the players will filter in on Friday night and will stay through Saturday when they will give them a ton of attention. It's very difficult to pay attention to the recruits and deliver a spring scrimmage.

It's basically like a second Junior Day?

What the hell are you talking about??? This has nothing to do with any network.

Mac announced this a couple months ago. Friday night equals no shared TV time... like in years past when they keep switching from one game to the next. This is uninterrupted air time and he knows people will make a point to watch. He also said he likes that this gives him all day Saturday to smoooze the recruits who will come in town for the Friday night game.

This is a PR move and recruiting angle. Not a network mandate... An idea you must have pulled from your ass, I presume. :dunno:
