Of course we have a choice. Nor are we required to ride or die with AA.

You want to give the keys to a true freshman who was a backup in high school an only looked decent in the Spring Game?

If we were playing some directional school at home I'd agree but this is one of the biggest games of the year on the road.. Count me out.. I think trask might be the future but he isn't whi I'm turning to.

Give me a guy who has played college football.. Tell him not to make stupid throws and manage the gsme.

Yep definitely a better option than throwing a true freshman out there in that stadium.
You had a completely different opinion when driskel was starting against bama instead of Treon.

Only decent? He looked better than your local neighborhood Applebees, that's for damn sure.

My point is, we are not forced to run with AA, and live or die with him. We still have options. Maybe AA is the best option, time will tell, but he is certainly not the only option, end of story.

Del rio was the game manager. You can't plug in an interception machine and tell him not to throw picks.

And AA played against those same twos and looked terrible.

:jerkit:

Dude, all I'm saying is he isn't the only option and we aren't ride or die with him. Neither will bring a championship.

You think Ohio ran the ball well? They averaged under 3 yards a carry I think. Tenn gave up about 4 yards a carry in their other 2 games it appears but quite a few rushing yards because those 2 opponents ran the ball so many times.

Just back from the game. Hope Del Rio is okay. I didn't see the hit because I followed the ball and they didn't show a replay in the stadium.

I will say that Applebee's playing next week is a good thing. LDR God bless him is very limited is what he does.

My guess is you won't be saying that by the end of the 1st quarter next week.

I just got the feeling Del Rio would have issues against the better defenses watching him. He has made quite a few unwise throws off his back foot etc. but didnt pay for them against these joke defenses. Appleby may be worse for throwing into bad spots however - I guess we will see soon.

I've seen enough of LDR to know he's not leading us to the promised land. Appleby may make some mistakes but I also think he'll move the ball and score more.

He throws a lot off his back foot. He also drops and sits in one spot. He panics if he gets moved off that spot and looks clueless like he doesn't know what to do when he gets flushed from the pocket. There were many times when he should have tucked it an ran (and had room to do so) but instead throws it away or floats a dead duck up in traffic. Appleby is at least athletic enough to escape the pressure and tuck it and get a few yards.

Appleby it is. First of all, he's a big athletic boy that will bring an extra option to the run game in short yardage situations or scrambles that Del Rio couldn't. Secondly, he has a gun for an arm...no touch evident yet but a gun nevertheless. Thirdly, he's played in front of huge hostile crowds before and won't have deer-in-the -headlights syndrome at Neyland. Fourthly, with first team reps in practice and a couple of possessions under his belt next week we may get out of Knoxville with the win.

Trask and/or Franks need to get serious coaching this week for back-up ready duty.

Guys let me reset this for you. Since the clock ended at the bowl game we are better off by far than having Freon here. It's UT, not a cakewalk but the bUTtchuggers none the less. I would take AA or Trask over Forehead boy from UT any day. With AA I think he has better coaching and talent around him than he did at Purdue. The UF/UT game comes down to this....Stop Hurd and Dobbs, Play lights out D, and we have a manageable offense, run the dang ball. The team that normally wins this game is the rushing team with the most yards. At this point still advantage UF. This is a good set up for us. UT has no tape other than Purdue and spring game on AA. He'll need to be somewhat mobile as UT has some good LB's. But VT, and Appy gashed this defense rushing. And did anyone see what Ohio did to them yesterday?? I would not expect AA to shyt the bed and lose it as he has some playing time. Back off from the ledge and relax. UT is in a similar situation. Injuries and they still regardless do not have a stellar QB. And the main thing.....IF Muschamp and Harris can beat UT. Mac can do it with AA, Trask, and even Franks IMO. Franks being the shakiest. We'll be ok.
