Although I've been pretty whiney about ole Butters n' Nuss the past two weeks, I'm not jumping off the train just yet. Mainly just because it ruins Florida football for me.

I'd rather be hopeful than full of despair, especially since like Law mentioned he's going to be around for a few more years. I don't want to spend the next two years in a toxic place wanting coaches to be fired; that's just not fun.

I'll sit on the "pumper" side for now, but I'm going to be realistic in the fact that it's do or die with this years recruiting cycle. Watching TN rebuild, it took them about 4 years under bUTch to get a solid roster together. Firing your coach only sets you back.

I kinda feel the same way too Dupree. I am not solid on the pumpin' but still somewhat optimistic. Alot of yesterday, I am putting Nuss and AA. But Mac has to be the one to correct the issues. This team is not playing to its potential and combined with the recruiting as well. Definitely this offense is better run by LDR.

Law, our only hope is the new AD. He didn't hire him, and hence has no loyalty for him.

We're going 6-6 and he'll be fired at the end of this season, probably to get into the Herman sweepstakes.

I had this thought this morning about the new AD. But then I remembered that the new AD came from Miss St, so who is to say he would not bring in Cousin Eddie or a guy like that? The problem is that guys get jobs based on records, etc. and I get that, but sometimes you have to look under the hood. Miles survived for a long time bc of some luck and no one wanted to peek under the hood. Very few people care about or can see the process. End results is all that matters, I am a believer that process will lead to said results over time!

He didn't hire Cousin Eddy at MSU. I think the hiring of Mullen would permanently alienate at least 50% of the fan base. The stadium would be empty for years.

That's the reason I don't see a change. Hard to imagine a guys first move as AD will be to authorize a massive payout. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it. Sorry, I want to be optimistic but years of toil as a Gator fan has beat me down.

He's going to be getting a LOT of pressure from high-level boosters to get rid of Mac, not keep him. He has absolutely no loyalty to Jim McElwain.

I understand, but maybe he likes Cousin Eddie. But in all fairness I have only been to the KY game this year and it was nowhere near full. So the attendance I don;t think would change that drastically. Going into the season I decided that I was only going to the 4 SEC home games and thought maybe I would have to pay face value only for the LSU game. Well I am guessing I will only have to pay about $10 for the LSU game now and someone will offer me a ticket to the Mizzou and USCe games just to be nice LOL. and I refuse to go to the Episcopal, Methodist, Jewish, Presbytarian, Lutheran (or whoever we are playing), game!

As long as Jeremy is alive, we are screwed. He will be around the athletic offices until he is barred or dead. he'll be whispering in Stricklin's ears the whole time. Someone should've taken his keys long ago. JF will have major input in whether we keep Mac and the next hire. The new guy is a puppet. That's why we got our 4-5 pick of AD's. No one wanted JF looking over their shoulder.

So for me, the issue is, can anyone objectively look at a year and a half and find any positives that say "this program is headed on the right trajectory?" I certainly can't find anything. Oh sure, the dwindling pumpers will always point to straw men to deflect attention to the real issues. I said yesterday that if you took somebody and showed them the Gators under Muschamp and showed them this game yesterday, they'd have no idea we had even made a coaching change. It is the same pile of hot garbage. Recruiting is awful. Players are not prepared to play. An offense that is not even remotely functional. Heck Old Hee Haw isn't even good at coach speak, he mostly rambles on about ugly babies and popcorn sales.

The fact that we are now in year 6 of this is proof that you should NOT wait to make a change when its obvious you have the wrong guy, it just makes the hole that much bigger to dig out of.

Year 7 and arguably Year 8. Of course, the running backs were 50 pounds lighter under Daz.

I just don't see them firing Mac after 2 years. He gets a 3rd season I think even if we somehow went 6-6 and lost our bowl game.

Nuss will be the sacrificial lamb this season.

No way Mac doesn't get 4 years minimum. Is it possible he's a worse recruiter than butch. If so then we can't even expect a tenn timeline for improvement

Butch Jones actually had a couple of top recruiting classes.

Butch has had some really great classes. You should look it up. He's done well on the trail. Mac is worse than Mac. That alone is a fireable offense.

That's what I'm saying , we won't even be in tenn timeline for improvement cause we ain't bringing in the talent to begin with. This is very concerning for the Longview

You mean if he goes 6-7?

When did the Muschimpian theory that bowl losses don't count on the record take hold on everyone.

Foley was saying Muschamp went 11-1 after the bowl loss. All the losers started discounting bowl games after that. It was one giant pumper fest

Why would you give anyone a 6 year contract?
Because given the fickel fan base, the work that needs to be done, and the inevitable down years while rebuilding, no one in their right mind would take the job without a guaranteed extended contract. The next mid-major coach (cuz that's what you're going to get) we end up with will need a 10 year contract to even sniff the dotted line.
