The scheme is what bama was doing 10 years ago and decided it wasnt good enough anymore

I disagree. Mac wants to throw the ball a lot more than Saban ever wanted to or did (at least that's how it looks to me). Christ he let LDR chuck it all over the yard when he had no business doing so.

Anyway, hasn't Bama run a spread under Kiffin the last two years? Is that what we want to go back to?

It seems whatever Bama runs works, why? RECRUITING
Coaching doesn't hurt either

Bama is running multiple sets and formations. It is considered an advanced offense. Kudos to Saban for evolving.

Back to your point, Mac wants to throw but instead of tailoring his offense to his personnel...he has tried to square peg a round hole. One of the worst hires of Foley's career.

I'll take that as a concession that the offense is in the right direction...

Next year is shaping up to look like 2007
:lmao2: You let me know when we sign the next Tebow and Harvin.

In 10 days will shut you up, and probably disappear again. Its amazing to me that you guys think this total pile of shyt offense, which gets mocked by the natioanl analysts, is showing progress.

This is exactly right. It almost always comes back to the horses in the stable. We aren't there yet, but are getting closer. Mac's lackluster recruiting is definitely a concern, but I believe he can turn it around with an offense that shows some life, which I expect to see next year. If not, I will come to the dark side with vocal majority here.

I actually think he has tailored his offense to his personnel... with the exception of the Arkansas game we have been very run heavy because we don't have the OL to pass block or a QB who is competent.

Memory may fail me, but I think SOS only had one top 10 recruiting class-the one with Brock Berlin and his wall. The HBC really didn't like to recruit, but, he could coach up any player that came to Florida. As was once said of Mr. Bryant, "He could take his'n and beat your'n and he could take your'n and beat his'n."
Your memory is failing failing you drastically. With Zook we were top5 every uear, but so were FSU and Tinerc. The worst year was 97 or so when we were in the 10 range depending on which one you read. You are correct though that two of our best classes were sans Zook, a fact that Zookophiles always forget.

Why would I shut up in 10 days? I haven't said the offense is good right now; it clearly isn't. I am expecting two Ls over the next 10 days. Nothing I have seen from this team on the road gives me any hope that we can win these games. The outcome of these games won't really change my perspective: the offense has the young pieces in place to be good with a good qb under Mac's scheme. If it performs, the recruits will come. If not, they won't, and he will be fired.

Ok. So where is this "right direction" you speak of? Is it tangible or a feeling?

Skills position weapons: Callaway Cleveland Swain Hammond Lewis Scarlett Perine. Ivey Taylor as bookend tackles with Jordan and hopefully a capable center and left guard. All that's missing is a good QB. We have a raw 6'6" prototype pro-style QB on the bench learning the system who never had real coaching before getting here. Yet, before the guy even takes a snap we want to fire Mac because he's winning the East ugly after inheriting a pitiful program from the worst coach in history.

Feeling. Gotcha. Nussmeier's last 4 offenses:

2016 - 95th
2015 - 112th
2014 - 115th
2013 - 88th

If Mac fires Nuss in the off-season I may have a change of heart but as of right now...next year will be the same unimaginative crap.

I agree with you on Nuss. Wasn't happy with the choice from the get go, but I think that's a cop out too. It's Mac's O; he's the purported guru.

He's recruited talent and depth at every skill position, it's undeniable. We will find out if he recruited the same at QB soon. The weapons are tangible, the QB is hope. I've seen enough to be patient and allow him the opportunity to prove that his offense works with his players, especially given: a) the state of the offense and program he inherited; and b) the QB with any experience that should be leading the offense right now violated PED rules.

I honestly think most people would be OK with this season if we were likely going to get a Top 10 recruiting class. The biggest issue is that without recruiting top talent we won't be improving, we will continue to be a middle of the road team until we can start getting the talent and Mac has yet to show he is capable of recruiting at a high level.

If he can't field a capable offense next year with the talent he will already have on offense, then I really don't care what he is able to recruit this year.

Playcalling is an art. Some people have it, some don't. Nuss is calling the plays not Mac. If Nuss is here next season, do not expect much. And don't blame it on a RS freshman either.

RS freshman is no excuse next year. True freshmen come in and are able to perform adequately, RS have won the heisman.

How many times in the last two seasons have you said to yourself...great call? For example, the read option play last week. I was like...great call. It was a great call. Honestly, how many times have you said that to yourself?
