He's actually selling. Mac and company aren't selling anything. It's their choice if they want to be a Gator.

Did he hire known good recruiters when he took that job?
Living up here, it's a mystery how he's doing it. He does have a stud QB with yet another stud coming in this year. Can't see that his AC's are lights-out recruiters either, especially the OC who makes Matt Foley look like a ballerina.

The biggest factors:
1. He's a UGA alum and bleeds red and bl(ack)
2. He's learned the recruiting schtick from Saban obviously better than MacElwain and
3. Ga is a talented HS football state with only 1 other (in practical terms) school to compete with in-state.

Or maybe they're just on a good card run.

He's selling hope. We're selling popcorn.

That's exactly it. They're seeing he had the balls to play a freshman qb and set themselves up for a bright future offensively.

Recruits aren't seeing that in Gainesville. They're seeing a offense w no direction or identity. Honestly, any offensive recruit coming to Florida is rolling the dice: will it get better or will it be the same as the last 7 years?

I was really surprised what he pulled in his first class on short notice also. A little light on total numbers but he got quite a few blue chip recruits.

Being the main school in state, with lowly Ga Tech as your main rival for recruiting is a huge deal. Could You imagine if UF was the only school to go along with someone like UCF?
However, there's a way to combat this....winning. Winning negates all. IF you're top dog ala OSU/Bama you have a national footprint and can get pretty much anybody.

This. It's the only game in a HS-football-rich state. If kids want to stay in state (and in the south, kids really don't like to leave home for some weird reason) - they can play at UGA.. or triple-option.

Who made an excuse? You said we must be cheating too if dwags are. I was trying to bring some levity to some of you ledge sitters.
UGA has always recruited well, SOS used to make fun of it when he beat their azzes each year with his comment of
"why do they have they best players when the recruit and then whine after the game about not having players as good as ours"
