Not really. He should have had his staff in place before the dead period ended. This guy is a mid-major coach and nothing more. Wait till his NFL stud defense isn't there to bail his garbage offense out anymore. Then we can finally FLUSH.

With this weak a$$ AD we have again, it will take more than one subpar season to rid us of Mac's incompetence! A decade of Florida football flushed down the drain!

Maybe strick is letting Mac bury himself. Give a few good reasons to fire his ass after the season. 3 years of inept offense, refusing to be proactive with staff hires, can't recruit for ****, worst offense and recruiting since the 70s. Everything really is in shambles. I'm hoping Stricklin is just letting it pile up for his own reasons

Doubt it man, Stricklin was hand picked by Foley himself. This is him really trying, but this ain't Mississippi State and the expectations are higher than 8-4 every year and I hope he finds that out real soon. Hopefully our " real " influential boosters will start leaning on Stricklin and tell him what is expected at the University of Florida!

Ok. Believe me I know Nord sucks.

I seriously think these guys dont get it. Teenagers love bling and stories of success. Rings. Or a real NFL coach and explanations of how this coach can get you there. Sending out Drew Hughes to talk about his internship at Bammer and two other staffers, really?

Wow.

Will someone tell me why we are ALWAYS doing favors to the OTHER TEAM and not hiring? We are concerned more about not screwing up there class and fvkking our own, why?

IS THERE ANY OTHER TEAM THAT DOES THIS? Is this part of being the 39th ranked engineering school instead of a top football school mentality? WTH happened to my school?

Foley is what happened, why he's still on campus is beyond me!

We are not making up any ground on the prime time competition who we at one time were and strive to be again (a zealot fans' perspective). There is no question our brand has been trampled by this same competition, made easy by the caricature and action of our purported leadership. I see no valid reason why a pumper (besides the innate personality of being a blind loyalist) would play the exaggerated melting down card against those watching and realizing this macabre. Some of you pumpers must be relatively new fans, not donating any money to the school or don't show up to Florida field to watch the defective product on the field. Anyone who has been watching since the Doug Dickey days can determine when Florida has a head coach philosophy and execution that bodes well for success versus that which will be a relentless spiral centered on mediocrity. Our current situation reflects the latter and anybody that feels counter to this fact is a bit too obtuse or indifferent to party with me.

Says some of the coaches we may be after are under contract until after NSD...no clue how believable that is.

Also found these comments hilarious

Good read from GatorsOnly site...and telling:

http://www.onlygators.com/01/18/201...be-complete-until-after-national-signing-day/

A couple points to make off these comments.

1. McElwain’s focus should be on recruiting right now, especially considering the state of the Gators’ class, which is ranked 20th nationally at this time — eighth in the SEC and behind both of UF’s in-state rivals.

2. However, though McElwain’s focus may be on recruiting, it’s clear that the Gators were blindsided by Mike Locksley‘s decision to stay at Alabama. If Locksley (or Mario Cristobal) was not the target, perhaps one that had indicated a principle agreement to return to Florida, there was no reason whatsoever for McElwain to wait until after the College Football Playoff National Championship to fill the open position.

3. Regardless of the Locksley situation, there is no excuse for Florida being so ill-prepared to not have a back-up candidate in place if the program was going to wait this long to make a hire. You have to have a Plan B and Plan C, even if you hold off on putting it in motion, especially considering the timing and recruiting situation. A staff being down one position coach (offensive line) is not a huge deal entering National Signing Day, but to be down two — with the other a coordinator-level assistant and presumably a recruiting specialist — is the furthest thing from “full strength” even if two additional bodies are on the road. And that’s not to slight director of player personnel Drew Hughes, who does a great job and is an asset. He should be filling in for the position coach missing on the recruiting trail, not the coordinator-level one.

4. Whether McElwain is “capable” of hiring two coaches while simultaneously recruiting is not at issue here. He should have never put himself in the situation where he would need to do both at the same time. And Florida should have never been in a position where it needed such upheaval so late in the game. McElwain has been notoriously slow-acting since taking over the Gators, and it’s one of a few flaws that he needs to fix immediately.

5. At this point, with the athletic director buying into Florida being “full strength” on the recruiting trail with two staffers on the road, it’s quite believable that one or both hires may not actually come until after National Signing Day is in the books. It’s plausible that some of McElwain’s candidates will feel loyalty and a responsibility to their current employers to play out this process, and it’s hard to blame them this late in the game with just two weeks left until the big day.

Coaches have notoriously switched staffs the days following NSD over the past few years, to the dismay of players and under the criticism of fans. So while it may make sense for it to go down that way at this juncture, that doesn’t make the situation any better.

Too much reality for some of the pumpers on here. Unless you are posting rainbows and unicorns...they don't wanna here it. Dress up that pig.

Why do they keep saying two coaches down? Sidehat, Summers and Nord equals three.

What am I missing?

So, a few months is enough time to evaluate the performance of the AD? That's based on all the UAA meetings you've been in, the complex issues you and Striklin have worked through, and the myriad poor decisions he's made. What were all the bad strategic moves he's made in the last few months?

All this nonsense aside, why would Striklin even discuss the timing at this point? Better to keep it on the DL, except with recruits, of course. I guess once you tell a bunch of 17-19 year olds it's gonna come out.
