Quote from recent DL commit Taylor Upshaw:

“They plan to use me as a defensive end,” Upshaw said on how the Gators plan to use him. “ But they also said it depends on how big I get, so if I continue to grow and get bigger then I could eventually be a defensive tackle, but as of now I’m a defensive end.”

By my count that is three safeties on board with Tyreke Johnson not in the fold. I guess Smith could play Nickel if necessary, but I can't help but wonder where we stand with Johnson.

TJ wants to play CB and UF is willing to try him out there. Other teams are pushing for him to play S. Hopefully, that helps us land him.

I hope you're right. Johnson is a hell of a prospect . Frankly this juco will be a guy that runs down the field on kickoff and maybe blast somebody . I don't seen him doing much else.

3* U is so 2016. But once Law gets stuck on something he stubbornly doesn't let go. Like a mule. Maybe he should change his name to Swamp Mule.
I know you got your vagina warm bc we landed a handful of 3rd tier four stars last year, criminals, injured players, maybe/maybe not qualifiers, two guys who didn't play as seniors, that sort of leftover garbage. Wanna count how many 2, 3, and 4 star players Ole Donkey Teeth has landed in his first three classes?

Like I said you're living in the past.
2017 it was 15-4*s, 8-3*s Thats two to one.
2018 we're at 4 and 4 but there's a lot more 4*s in the mock class than 3*s and we may get a 5* yet
2019 has 5 4*s and three that don't have stars yet.

Living in the past is what happens with recruiting. You can brag about next years class or 2019 all you want but they won't do shyt on the field until their 3rd year.

This year, Butters reaps what he sowed with his two terrible and one mediocre class.

The first article says Nord is visiting TE Takacs in Naples. WTF? In the recruiting areas thread is says Nord has the Panhandle area, nowhere near Naples.

Also, can some please explain to me why Nord is still on this staff?

Every recruit is recruited by the regional recruiter and their position coach.

As to your second question, good luck with that.

OL John Campbell to visit Miami, decide next week:

http://florida.247sports.com/Bolt/OT-Campbell-Visiting-Miami-This-Week-53140024

Miami will get one of its top targets on campus this week.

InsideTheU has learned that Orlando Dr. Phillips three-star offensive tackle John Campbell is expected to be in Coral Gables on Thursday and Friday with his family for an unofficial visit.

Campbell, who is listed as the nation's No. 29 offensive tackle prospect on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, is considering a number of different schools, but those close to his recruitment believe that Miami and Florida are his two favorites with a decision expected to come at some point next month.

“The U is just a great place to be," Campbell previously told 247Sports when asked about the Hurricanes. "Navaughn Donaldson is like my brother. I talk to him like every day."

Campbell (6-5, 284) is also high on Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee and UCLA.

UF not done recruiting Safety for 2018 class:

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-gators-recruiting-safety

Addressing needs
For the second straight week, the Gators have added a safety to their 2018 class.

Junior college prospect Deontai Williams committed to Florida on Monday after visiting the school over the weekend to meet UF coach Jim McElwain & Co.

Williams committed to the previous staff 3 and a half years ago as a 2015 recruit, but later flipped to Georgia before failing to qualify academically. However, Florida has kept tabs on Williams during his JUCO detour and decided to make a run at him after schools such as Alabama and LSU began showing interest in the spring.

The Gators now have three verbal commitments at the safety position — their No. 1 need for 2018 — with Williams joining 4-star safeties Amari Burney and C.J. Smith in the class. Burney pledged to Florida on June 1 and gave the staff some momentum to kick off the start of summer camps.

Even with a trio of commits in place, UF is not done yet at safety. Secondary coach Corey Bell and other assistants are still pursuing 3-star recruits Jamien Sherwood (Jensen Beach, Fla.) and Randy Russell (Miami Carol City), who de-committed from the Miami Hurricanes last week following his trip to Florida.

The Gators will return just three players (Quincy Lenton, Jeawon Taylor, Donovan Stiner) at the position for the 2018 season, though some of their current and incoming cornerbacks could play safety if necessary. Nonetheless, at this point the coaches have adequately addressed their roster needs through recruiting.

Trikweze Bridges update
Speaking of safety, here’s one to watch for the Class of 2019.

The Gators extended a May 5 offer to Trikweze Bridges, a 3-star recruit from Lanett, Ala. He also holds early offers from Alabama, Kentucky and Louisville.

Bridges plans to make a return trip to Florida this summer after visiting the school in 2015.

“I went to their camp my freshman year and the environment was so great. It was so much fun,” Bridges told SEC Country. “When I got there, I was iffy about them. But when I was there and started seeing more, I just fell in love with the school.”

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect is also planning to visit Clemson and Louisville in the coming weeks. He wants to make his decision early in his senior year.

“I want to have a good relationship with the coaches, the school needs to have a good academic record and obviously they need to help develop me as a player,” Bridges said.

Bridges believes he would get that player development and education at UF. He is impressed by Florida’s track record with defensive backs.

“Their DBs work really fast,” he said. “They’re always attacking the ball and I like that. I’m a ball hawk in the secondary.”
