If LDR plays like he did against UK in every game, I'd be ok with him.

If N Texas had a decent defense they would have picked him about 3 times instead of one time with that weak throw off your back foot under pressure stuff. LDR is simply not a decent FBS QB. Anyone that thinks LDR can even dream of ever being a decent SEC QB needs to go watch our offensive plays in that game and what he does under pressure. Arkansas would have been the norm more often than not against a good defense injury or not.

He could be a game manager type QB "IF" he had a really strong OLine in front of him so he ends up in very few 3rd and long situations. In 3rd and long constantly, not so much. He seems to do decently well when he has time to throw. As you pointed out, under pressure is a different story.

Not imo if the defense was aggressive. I think a blitzing team like Michigan would result in Arkansas level turnovers with LDR at QB. I remember the pro football evaluator that reviewed the spring game mentioning his tendency to throw off his back foot might become an issue later when most of us thought he was the real deal after the Spring game.

You mean those plays where he has loads of time because he sideways backpeddles about 25 yards and then noodles it into the gatoraide cooler? Those were the best.

Tom Luginbill on Malik Zaire and Florida: ‘There’s not a fit’

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/tom-luginbill-malik-zaire-florida

Malik Zaire is the 2017 wild card for Florida, as the former Notre Dame quarterback transfer tries and fix what has ailed the Gators on offense the past few years. With his arrival in Gainesville, many consider him the favorite to win the starting job under center.

ESPN college football analyst Tom Luginbill isn’t buying the hype.

“I don’t think Zaire has any chance of being the quarterback there,” Luginbill told JOX FM in Birmingham, Ala.

Strong words considering the down competition that Zaire faces, with redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks being the closest competitor. Many have already penciled in Zaire’s name for the opener against Michigan on Sept. 2, but Luginbill is bewildered by it.

“I’m shocked by that move. I don’t understand it. There’s not a fit. It’s not an easy offense to learn in three weeks.”

Luginbill might have a point, though, as Zaire was beat out for the starting quarterback job the last three season in South Bend, including by DeShone Kizer last season on a team that went 4-8.

The race to become the Gators starter will be front and center during fall camp. Will Zaire become the man the Gators think he can be, or will Luginbill be correct? Either way, it will be an interesting August in Gainesville.

He has a point.
If Malik is to be running the offense we've seen the last two years then he's not a fit. But if they've changed the offense to accommodate him then we shall see. I still think it's rotating QBs in the first part of the season.

Luginbill just made that comment in the last day or two about Zaire being a bad fit. So, I went for the "Dan is a GC alias for Luginbill" accusation with an Ace Ventura angle. Evidently, it failed.

Oh ok. I have been saying Zaire wont start here but will have a package. I just doubt he ever starts.
