Keep workin' 'em silly Gators!

I love the momentum and I'd love to see us have a season that supersedes expectations to keep the rise going! I can't wait for the season to start.

Tom Herman must be landing some absolute studs at Texas to be ranked 3rd and only have 15 commits. So who's the other SEC school with the higher player average than us?
Don't forget that Texas is loaded with refined talent. Kids who could have already reached their potential. These kids from SFL are scratching theirs.

We are second well behind Trailerbammer. Click "avg" to sort that way.

That being said, we are within striking distance of a top class and being one (meaning top 3 or 4 with similar nunbers of bluechippers) the top classes is all that matters.

I'll be surprised if Tenn can remain that high. I have a feeling Butch will lose some recruits once he loses some games and his seat gets hotter. If he wins less than 8 games, I think he's gone.

Question about the December signing period. Is there a limit to how many recruits can sign their LOI in December?

stolen from gatorcountry:

The dead period is upon us yet there is still news coming out here and there.

Let me start by saying that when projecting any more commits we have to take into account how many slots are left, not only for the class as a whole but the #s at a position.

Nik Bonito: projected 100% to the Cardinals. From what I can tell, the staff evaluated him among others and had higher ranked guys they were interested in. Take in to account that UF was never going to sign more than two at the position and maybe only one and they put more time in on other guys.

Andrew Chatfield: In my last Candy gram I said to keep an eye on him. He finally got his offer at FNL off of a good performance. This is what I know; he is fast and has gained a little more weight. The staff could see him as a very good special team contributor as well as a passing down DE. What I don’t know is if they have another target ahead of him. My opinion is he would prefer UF over OSU.

Nik Petit Frere: Is now crystal balled to UF at 62%. At one point it was 50/50 UF/ND. NPF is one of those guys that are hard to get a reading on as he is very careful to not tip his hand.

Malcolm Lamar: Is now CB’ed to the Beavers at over 50% and is trending that direction. UF is hoping he will stop and consider the distance. Some guys it matters and some (MC) it doesn’t. With Lamar, we will wait and see.

Asa Martin: Did not visit UF prior to the dead period as was the plan and is trending to Auburn IMO.

Dameon Pierce: Returned to campus last weekend for a quick trip. Hmmmm. Is projected to Auburn by 247 but I disagree. I think he will commit to UF based on his actions and what I hear. As I mentioned before, very rarely does someone de- commit to a school and then attend that school. (About 7%) That does not bode well for Bama. I don’t think Martin and Pierce will attend the same school. How would that be different than a Pierce/Clement combo you might ask. At FNL Clement sought out Pierce and told him he wanted them to play together at UF.

Copeland: The much anticipated video came out for the good guys. Trust me, he is solid and will begin helping with recruiting immediately. There was a rumor that this was orchestrated with JC and the staff for him to wait for a bigger impact. I can’t say for a fact that was the case but I believe it to be. Consider that Pitts delayed his announcement and some posters got worried. I told you not to worry. Pitts and Dunlap announce just before FNL. Then Lang pops, then Matty Ice, then Russell and the 2019 kids thrown in. Copeland was ready after Matty Ice announced and the shocker of Chase. I believe the staff asked him to hold off for a bit for delayed impact. Which leads to—

Anthony Scwartz: As with Russell you wonder when he will announce. The delay makes people wonder if he is considering other options. Well, he could be but I suspect he will commit to UF and will make an announcement during the dead period.

DL: Uf is still working the following guys on DL. The aforementioned Malcolm Lamar. Dante Stills, the West Virginia legacy needs to come for a game. UF is his #2 choice and he has never even been on campus. Coynis Miller, Auburn is said to be the leader with UF very close behind. Micah Parsons, will visit and has MC/IC/KP, all friends and all coming to UF now. Don’t count UF out for Parsons but I don’t think they are the favorite either. No visit=no chance. Azeez Ojulari (if he signs we are going to need a nick name). Andrew Chatfield, currently a Buckeye commit, and current Miami commit Nesta Silvera. I expect UF to add a couple of more names after the dead period for OV’s and will get 1-2 off this list.

Next 3 commits: Scwartz, Gouraige and Pierce. It’s recruiting so don’t bet the mortgage.

So back to numbers: with JC on board, that is 16 with my prediction UF will lose 1 of their current commits. I suspect UF will sign 25 if they close on a couple of top guys. If they get the 4 OL, 2 off the DL list and Scwartz that only leaves 3 spots. UF is in great shape for this and next year.

Petit-Frere enjoys Florida Gators visit but still open

https://www.gatorcountry.com/florid...e-enjoys-florida-gators-visit-but-still-open/

The Florida Gators had several big name offensive linemen on campus for Friday Night Lights but one of the bigger targets visited the following day.

Offensive lineman Nick Petit-Frere (6-6, 272, Tampa, FL. Berkeley Prep) visited on Saturday and the visit was a good one according to the lineman.

“It was good, I enjoyed myself,” Petit-Frere said of his visit to Florida. “We just toured around the facilities, see the campus and things likes that. Talked to the coaches too.”

During the visit, Petit-Frere had the chance to meet with offensive line coach Brad Davis who is also his main recruiter.

“He was just kind of glad that I was there for the visit,” he said of Davis’ message. “He was just telling me that he liked me as a player and he was excited that I came down to get a chance to visit. His entire message throughout the day was that he was excited to see me.”

The relationship between Davis and Petit-Frere has grown a lot since Davis was hired and the lineman had nothing but good things to say about him.

“He’s a great coach,” Petit-Frere said of Davis. “He recruits well and he has a great personality. He has been very nice and amazing to get to know. I’m very grateful to have all of these offensive line coaches and coaches in general talking to me.”

Head coach Jim McElwain also had the chance to meet with Petit-Frere and the Gators head coach made sure to make the lineman feel welcomed.

“It was about the same message, he was just glad that I came up and got the chance to see everything,” he said of McElwain’s message. “He was cool throughout the day. It was a great chance to meet with him again.”

Over the last week or so, Florida has gained a lot of momentum in recruiting but Petit-Frere tried not to pay attention to that much.

“I’ve noticed it a little bit but I really don’t try to focus on that,” Petit-Frere said on if he has noticed Florida’s recent recruiting run. “It’s cool to see people that I know go to certain schools but I don’t want to base my decision on that.”

Not only does coaches recruit guys to schools now but other players do as well and Petit-Frere has heard from the Gators quarterback commit recently.

“He has reached out to me a little bit,” he said on if Matt Corral has talked to him. “It has just been little things like ‘hi’ and things like that.”
Over the summer, Petit-Frere not only visited Florida but several other out of state schools but visits for the summer are over he says.

“I visited Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, North Carolina and Duke,” Petit-Frere said on his summer visits. “I’m focused on getting better for my school and trying to get us back to the playoffs and to the state finals now.”

Much like he has been all along, Petit-Frere says that he has no leaders but he hopes to visits some places this fall.

“I’m still open to everyone,” he said on his process. “I think everything will start to work itself out, I have to see if I can take visits this fall or not. I’m not sure but I just hope I get the chance to take as many visits to games as I can.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Petit-Frere is very open in his process and hasn’t really started to narrow things down at all. Florida is one of those teams that he talks to a lot and they should be in the race until the end for the lineman.

Meanwhile:

Alabama adds two players to their class:

4-star DE Cameron Latu, a Utah native, commits to Alabama

Alabama is finally starting to pick up momentum in recruiting, getting its second commitment in less than 24 hours.

Four-star defensive end Cameron Latu committed to the Crimson Tide on Friday, announcing his decision on Facebook Live.

Latu (6 feet 5, 236 pounds), from Salt Lake City Olympus, is one of the top-10 weak-side defensive ends in the class as well as a national top-150 prospect overall. In all, he had more than 20 Power Five offers, including strong interest from Pac-12 powers USC, Utah and Washington. Nebraska also was in the hunt.

His commitment is a boost for a Crimson Tide recruiting campaign that’s made an uncharacteristically slow start, perhaps in part because of competition for playing time from Alabama’s sensational 2017 class.

3-star APB Slade Bolden commits to Alabama over TCU

Three-star all-purpose back Slade Bolden announced his commitment to Alabama on Thursday.

Bolden, from West Monroe (La.) High, revealed his decision at a ceremony at the school.

Bolden, who is 5-foot-11 and 198 pounds, chose the Crimson Tide over TCU, his other finalist. In-state LSU also had been a finalist before cutting the school from his list this past weekend.

Bolden’s list of offers, which is over 20 overall, also includes Arizona State, Arkansas, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Utah, Vanderbilt and Washington.

And yet, we still have two missing.

So, we get our full class in (now that Robinson is enrolled/practicing).

LSU minus 2 from their class and UGA minus 2 from their class. Both classes finished ahead of ours. This obviously lowers their ranking.

https://gridironnow.com/devonte-wyatt-junior-college/

Coach: Georgia DT signee Devonte Wyatt has enrolled at a Kansas junior college

Georgia defensive tackle signee Devonte Wyatt, a four-star prospect from the Atlanta area, did not meet academic requirements and has enrolled at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College.

Another thing I saw today, LSU has had 10 transfers since the end of the 2016 season.....with 5 of those transfers being OL's. Wow!

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/lsu-football/lsu-number-transfers-normal-attrition-cause-concern/

What’s interesting, however, is that of the 10 transfers, five were offensive linemen. That’s ironic considering the Tigers had three true freshmen and one redshirt freshman on the first-team unit for Saturday’s scrimmage. Part of that was due to injuries, and part of that was due to Teuhema’s departure.
