Buddy Martin is one of those guys who, because he's supposedly a "journalist," knows more than you, the peon fan. So you should just sit down and be quiet and form whatever opinion he tells you that you should have.

I don't care what mac's record was. If you watched only one gator game with him as the HC you walked away thinking, "good lord that's an awful team." Worse, that thought would occur no matter which game, and which season you watched. The 2.5 years under mac was some of the absolute worst football I have ever seen; and I've watched teams like Rutgers and Kansas play.

Pressure. Excruciating pressure. Unrealistic expectations by the fan base. The demand for overnight success and an unwillingness to allow time for building a program from the ground up or remodeling after a disappointing season. There is almost no margin for error because of the high salary.

Yeah for three years it seemed like the latter half of 1989. UF opened up that year 6-1 winning six straight have losing to UMs in the opener. UF won the next six games, but Hall was forced out after the 5 game, the 4th in the win streak. UF beat Vandy and UNM after Hall was force out but also UF QB Kyle Morris was suspended and so UF basically had no QB. So UF lost 4 of 5 down the stretch including the bowl scoring 7, 10, 17 and 7 in the losses. UF had Emmitt Smith, but could basically only run the ball.

Funny that you brought this up. Pat Dooley was totally called out today on the local gator radio. Guys like Dooley, Ackerman, and Martin are complete dumb-asses. Pat basically admitted that he knew **** was going down with McElwain a long time ago and didn't think it was his place to comment on it. Fact of the matter is, local gator media is pathetic. Most of the time, these guys can't even manage to be the first ones to break a story on the damn school they get paid to cover. They've lost all credibility.
