That's the only reason I could see for it, and even then it's a question of whether protecting Franks while depriving him of experience and potentially hurting his confidence is more beneficial overall.
Benching Franks also plays into the narrative that he sucks, but that's a whole 'nother rant.
Franks actually has a future at Florida... McElwain fcked with this kid, pulling him when all he did was execute a flawed game plan multiple times. Now you look how poorly our OL played, our skill positions played, do you really want a kid to get physically damaged that still has potential just so the one year rental is safe?
