Chris Leak was named MVP of the 2006 NC game running Mullens offense. That is all.
and yet he sucked the entire rest of the season and in 2005. I love the 2006 Ohio State passing game. that's just not what you get when you hire Mullins though.

understand that I believe Chris leak might have been one of our most talented passing quarterbacks ever. he is still the career passing leader. I wasn't the one criticizing Chris leak for not running the option very well. the rest of you guys were.

that being said if I were on the coaching staff now I certainly wouldn't sign a Chris leak or similar passing quarterback for this option offense.

Chris leak was the prototypical pocket passer. He wasn't very good at roll-outs. He was taught to get down rather than taking a hit. He wasn't just a pass first guy. He was an always pass guy. He through a great spiral but he also threw too many ints at precisely the wrong time. They (Mullen) managed him in 2006 and taught him to throw it away rather than force the ball. He did that to perfection against OhbooHoo St.

He would have excelled under Spurrier offense. He was a terrible fit for Mullens.

Corral is a much better fit. He's not a Tebow fit. He's not a Cam Newton fit. But he's a much better fit than Leak. Matt has the arm strength and accuracy to make the D respect the long ball and make them pay when they cheat up. He's got good pocket presence and good feet. He's good scrambling. He makes quick decisions (at least in H.S.)

The question is: Does Corral want to be that guy and does Mullen want to tweak to Corral strengths?

I'd like to see Corral play for us, I hope he does. But, it won't be the end of the world if he doesn't.

Jefferson will petition to be eligible right away. Would start for us day one. Dad coaches for the dolphins so it would be closer to family as well.

a better comparison is Chris leak and Josh Portis. leak would have been an All-American in spurrier's offense he was a source of many an internet Rampage while being forced to run the option by Mullen & Company. portis wasn't particularly talented but I'm sure he would have been great in Mullins offense if he had his head on straight.

I'm not interested in what you think. (What do you think about that?)
