Still going, bud? You’re not going to convince anyone to get on board with or relate to your Charmin soft mentality. The block was illegal (by today’s standards) but the confrontation between the coaches lit a fire under the team’s ass. Period. It was a good thing. You’re not gonna find anyone that agrees with you here on this. Maybe you’ll have better luck at GatorCountry. There are a bunch of sensitive guys over there that can relate to you a bit better.

Look dude - Mason came running across the field and immediately got in both Grantham's and Mullen's faces. The hard hit was on a man in-line to make the tackle on the ball carrier, not an innocent bystander after the play had gone by. It was an active, aggressive and effective block. Targeting? This group of soft officials decided so and then threw out of the game Joseph because they called personal fouls on all players WHEN THEY DID NOTHING. Where the f@ck was the penalty on Mason for instigating the whole fiasco? I saw it live right in front of me in Nashville. He was the instigator, the aggressor and the Gators paid the price via a ridiculous new rule that I had never heard of. Mason got off without an official even talking to him they were concentrating on Mullen and Grantham. They ignored the bully - Mason. I don't know if SEC officials receive much training but they seem to have no common sense.

On this board, it is a certainty that your opinion will not be widely shared. That says nothing about my opinion.

“God have mercy on your soul” was specifically a well-wish for you after the responses you will get. Can you explain how that is using the Lord’s name in vain?

Are you truly this daft?

He's the most stubborn guy I know. He won't back down even if he's wrong. He's a good guy. But he won't admit he's wrong. If anybody has listened to local sports radio in Gainesville, Gern is IronMike. He's the most stubborn, negative gator fan i know. He's my dad. So I love him. Maybe I shouldn't have claimed him on this board though.

This is what he does. He's a great gator fan but he misses the point some times. The problem is that he was right about Zook and MusElwain being ****ty and he's been a gator fan forever. So he thinks he's right even when he's wrong. He has been doing this on the radio for 30 years. Steve Russell hates him. He calls and stirs the pot and then there's a million calls after him because of his crazy **** he says. He's a good gator fan and he means well. The other thread he started about the big improvements on offense is probably a better representation of the good gator fan he is. He cares a lot.

But I thought IronMike is already here under another name?

Violent hits are ok blindsided cheap shots are not ask Darrel Stingly !!

That Tatum-Stingley event was horrid in result and, in line with your proposal, this type of tackling should be cultured out of the game. Still, the rule must have truth on its side. When one player hits perfectly with his shoulder-pads into the sternum, his helmet-head will make secondary contact as an immediate continuum of the action, but doesn't impart the tackling-blow. = that perfect tackle should not be penalized as it is being penalized currently. Ignored in all this is the event where the ball carrier lowers his head to lead with his helmet in 90% of those collisions. ?? Doesn't that natural reflex "spearing" need rules to prevent, to make the game safer ? Preventing the damages of impact in a sport wholly based on hard collisions radically changes football. It's a difficult tampering.

The severity-aftermath of an injury does not determine that the hit was dirty. Football has dangers : heat stroke at practice, coming down injuring the neck even without being hit, dehydration dangers, etc. Precautions may improve these, but there will always be some.

In my opinion, winning fixes everything.

But, I may be wrong about that...... unlike Gern.

What in the world are you saying ? That anything one player does to another Is ok ? If your son had his neck broken by a cheap shot you might have a different opinion ! Your attitude is why fewer parents are letting their kids play . Rules are put into place for a reason ! Sometimes they need to be modified or adjusted but saying " I don't want any rules on cheap shots" is obtuse ! It's easy for you to say when it's not your brain or body on the line . Very macho but very dumb
Wow. Part of me had instant flashbacks to my old GSMB alias, Mr. Peebody. :peabody:

Be honest Gern...

You’re the house that gives out little sample sizes of dental floss on Halloween, aren’t you?
I love that house. Would send my kids back a few times. Dental floss could have saved me dental pain at 13.
Gern, you need to post with more discipline. This thread is embarrassing. Quit while you’re ahead and just accept the fact that the topic was a bad idea.
When Dan looked ballistic and the ref was holding him ........they may even review that in the deep state of Birmingham. The deal is sanctimonious flies about as well as those turkeys in that famous WKRP episode. Scale that back quickly.
I think you're a liberal democrat who voted for hillary, protested against Kavanaugh and went to f$u.
frozen gotta frozen with his one trick pony. Ox??? that's right the right side.......;)
So I remember gern starting off with some good posts...some old school stuff.
I know right? He may be an old guy and we can go off the rails sometimes.......MOM.
Argue the point instead of silky " what Olympic sport do you like " or you bring orange slices to soccer moms " nonsense !
Orange slices. Story time. Back in the early 70s we were dying out there in a scrimmage. Literally. No water .........and someone brought out orange slices ...........im my entire life nothing tasted better......
In my opinion, winning fixes everything.

But, I may be wrong about that...... unlike Gern.
Winning allows us to forgive dan. Losing and Dan becomes the new target.
