We've had this conversation before Coach. More than once. It's John L. Williams, NOT Johnell Williams.

Also, Williams played fullback while Anderson split time with Lorenzo Hampton at tailback. Both Anderson and Hampton were first round picks and were considered comparable players (both 27th overall picks, one in 85 the other in 86). Hampton was a bust in the NFL and gets no love.

Alex.
You are correct. I guess I get his name (certainly not him) mixed up with Johnell Brown a rb near the end of the 70s for Dickey. I think he came from GHS.
Or not. He was beat out for QB by John Brantley and then played RB.

This guy ran behind some of the worst offensive lines I've ever seen and is my vote for the most underappreciated RB.....His initial burst and 2nd& 3rd gear speed was damned near that of Demps and Rainey who overshadowed him most of his career....Huge oversight by our staffs in my opinion as his vision was clearly 10X better than either of theirs....He had great hands, decent power for his size and was the only offense we had in many games in 2012. A true everydown back.

Fred. Period. See below. James Jones #2, for his catch against scUM in 1982 alone, which I can't find a video of....

All these videos make me want to see some good gator football again. Possibly with an improved line this year we will see a good running game.

Doug Dickey was desperate one year and georgia was the next game, he put his best athlete at running back, Wes Chandler. He had a great game and we beat the pups, what an athlete, he could do anything.
He was probably the greatest athlete ever to play football for UF. He had Deon speed, Great hands instincts and toughness. I heard he was all state in basketball in HS too.

Most "dangerous" RB? Got to be Tony Davis (from Chipley and Nole Amp Lee's half brother). Great athlete that was to play both football and basketball. Got dismissed from the university when, I believe, he got into an argument with a lady friend, grabbed her and threatened to throw her off of the balcony of an apartment. Dumb ass was going to be a solid two-sport player. Ironically he is now a preacher and high school basketball coach. Still has a flair with the ladies I'm told.

I ALWAYS wondered what the hype was about him. He never got to prove it on the field. Im glad he got his life together finally. He was like Ron Enclade. He was gonna be the great TE when I was in college. He never got close. I know he never came to a class he was on the roll I was in.

I don't think there is any video of the James Jones catch because the game wasn't televised. You had to be there. But that might have been the first benchmark for loud in the stadium.

I was at both that game as well as the USC game (Wilbur Marshall OWNING AND DESTROYING Sean Salisbury).

1982 was a good season at Florida Field. Miami and USC to open the season. The 77-14 West Texas State game (even a dog scored LOL). The following week we came back in the final 3 minutes to beat Auburn with a FG, onside kick, FG.
