Nice job tonight. Faedo not as consistent but more than enough to get the job done. He's a competitor. Offense wasn't jaw-dropping, but was enough with the pitching. Our OF is about as slow as we've had in a while, but they are much better when the pitching dominates! Hope we do a lot of healing over Sunday.
Umpiring, to me, in this CWS has seemed very inconsistent behind the plate. The guy tonight wasn't too bad, but that clown last night was terrible. Not saying he beat us, but when he squeezed the zone on Kowar in the 3rd (I think), it definitely F'd him up. Of course, part of Kowar's development has to be the ability to turn the page and that deficit was exposed. The rest of the pitching wasn't good either, but I can't disagree with Sully's decision to go with the unknowns. Why pile up pitches on a better guy(s) that we will probably need to use later when it was obvious that we most likely weren't going to hit a bull in the @ss with a bass fiddle regardless of who was on the mound?
Fielding miscues along with Bell's F-up (did you see him drop the GD bomb afterward?) were pretty bad. Infield play shouldn't let this happen again, but a very unathletic OF is worrisome if our pitchers are giving the opponents pitches to line or elevate.
All SEC final is pretty cool and well-deserved. No news flash, but you gotta think it's going to come down to our pitching. If they can keep it close and we can sprinkle in just enough O, we got a good chance. Our young hurlers should have more confidence since we've seen this bunch and won a series with them. I like our chances.
