Reminds me of the old Sam Kennison bit about Jesus returning.

Funny stuff.

One problem. There is only one true savior of Florida Football-- S.O.S. The man set the winning standard. Now we gotta find who will be the next guy to try to live up to it.

Well, I think this is worth discussing. I fully expected Meyer to go to UND after this season, but UND is having such a good season it seems unlikely to come open. So I wondered for a minute or two if Meyer might come back to UF.

Then it dawned on me that his buddy Machen is gone and Meyer would not have the free hand his buddy game him when he was at UF. If you snub Spurrier to hire Meyer, you are going to give Meyer almost carte. blanche so you don't look bad.

So Meyer is very unlikely to come back to UF in my view.

Can’t really see Urban back coaching us. The phone call could’ve been about getting input on a potential candidate we’re interested in, or maybe potentially putting him in the “Ring of Honor”, he meets the criteria to go in, and I figured at some point he would be put in there. Has a head coach ever went back to a previous head coaching job in college and been successful?

I appreciate ALLLLL that Meyer did for UF and I love those trophies.......BUT, the way he left, it's not going to happen. IMO they'll put off the ROH as long as they can just out of spite. Can't say that I blame them either. Perhaps maybe after Prilosec OTC sponsors the honor.

Spoke to my friend who used to work for Urban and told them about the rumor. They laughed their ass off and said it was ridiculous and that it just shows how desperate the fan base is. To say they dismissed the rumor is an understatement. They basically said there is no way in hell he'd come back to UF.....ever. They also said that they expected Frost or Norvell because of all the smoke that's being pumped out about other coaches right now. Sorry '78, but they basically said your friend is full of ****.

About the response i expected. Hence why I soft pedaled it.

It's real, I can tell you that. I don't have any more details at the moment. I wish I did but I don't. I'll keep you posted.

This thing is wiiiiiide open.

I heard this also. Florida will send their unicorn to pick him up.

I heard Charlie Strong is quitting USF to become his DC.
Danny boy is quitting MSU to coach up the offense.

Urbs was overheard in the bathroom saying "we got the band back together".

I can't believe we have gotten so desperate that we actually have a thread saying Urban is coming back.
Since when does this thread say Urban is coming back? You guys need some reading comprehension.

I'm going to have to give a seminar on what a sports message board is.

I would expect them to call Meyer as a resource or reference. Despite all the hubbub among us fans, rumors etc. people in the business network. I’d be surprised if the call was to lure him back. He is one of the top 2-3 college coaches but is there any reason he’d leave OSU (except he’s never been anywhere very long.)

That said, we might be due for the “lock them out of the locker room” approach again.

He would recommend Addazio again.

Wow, this got its own thread. Now I feel I like I have to follow up with some meat and potatoes.

Let me start off by saying I have no new news. However, I did get a good night's rest.
