People grieve in different ways. Not wise to do so publicly, but it seems like lots of people need to dump everything out there.

Like you, I'd turn him in ASAP. If I was his friend I'd mourn him, too, but it would forever be tainted by the convictions. There's also an element of betraying everyone who invested in him.
