I'm reluctant to use superlatives to describe our effort after only four games and with so many big tests in front of us, but you have to be awfully impressed with the job Mullen has done so far.

Mullen went to Eugene before the 2011 season to learn the uptempo from Kelly. He deployed it with some some success that season.

Mississippi State 59, Memphis 14: Second Verse, Faster Than the First

But inevitably came away thinking it didn't work.

"My issue with the uptempo offense is the inconsistency in how the game is allowed to be played through the officiating."

Mullen's offense probably works best with a tough and versatile quarterback who can expose the middle with the five-wide keeping things loose.

I don't think he ever totally abandoned tempo, but it never became a staple. We may see some of it as the Florida athletes get more comfortable with the offense.

My position on CDM hasn't changed. A good coach who is mediocre at recruiting and probably isn't our answer. Raising our offense 100+ yds/game impresses me and, imo, gives CDM his one shot at success, to--wit: the improvement in offense results in improved recruits which results in better play which results in better recruits which results in better......You get the idea. You are entitled to see it on the basis of your expertise and experience. I have to do the same.
