We are doomed with this hire

Or this this the great hire and we will,be contending again soon!

One of those two for sure.

Very astute observation.

Gators, please read McElwain's coaching profile in full. :proud:
PROMINENT PLAYERS COACHED:
  • Louisville wide receiver and Super Bowl XXXIX MVP Deion Branch
  • Alabama running back and Heisman Tropy winner Mark Ingram, now with the New Orleans Saints
  • New York Jets 2011 draft selection quarterback Greg McElroy
  • Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones, a first-team All-American and 2011 first-round draft selection of the Atlanta Falcons
  • Alabama Doak Walker Award winner and Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson
Nice Bio but the only thing I couldn't find was the prominent players recruited. Seems obvious he can coach 'em up but can he bring 'em in? We're going to learn a lot about this hire when we see his first recruiting class.

Passing for 7000 yards in the past 2 years is pretty normal in the MWC. They don't play defense out west. Don't get too exceited about those passing stats.

2014 2013 Tot

3915 3730 7645 Colorado State
3462 3610 7062 Boise State
3357 3106 6463 UNLV
3038 4271 7309 San Jose St.
2727 3389 6116 Wyoming
2707 5134 7841 Fresno State
2794 3617 6411 Hawaii
2374 2968 5342 Nevada
2178 3358 5536 San Diego St.
1068 1365 2433 New Maxico
1816 1259 3075 Air force

Rushed for almost 4k, as well. Pretty gaudy numbers from we've seen the past 5 years.

as the offensive coordinator I'm sure he played a huge role in recruiting these guys. Plus he was a rivals 25 recruiter in his last year at bama

All I know is every rival I have seen is ecstatic about this hire and thinks there is another 4 years of suck on the way. I hope they are wrong.

Not nearly as excited as they would have been about another 4 years with WM.

I'm trying to make the best of it, chin up, Go Gators, be postive, but why do I keep feeling like we've just hired Butch Jones?

Sorry I can't really give him credit for pulling kids to Bama when it's Bama and Nick Saban is the head coach. Hell their recruiting rankings may have even got better since he left, certainly haven't dropped off since they get any 5 and 4 star player they want from any state essentially.

Didn't seem like he was at any job long enough to be developing the players he also recruited. Hopefully he can get it done on the recruiting trail. It does look like he has made his career coaching and getting production from someone else's recruits so hopefully he can do the same with Muschamp's guys and win right away while bringing in some top classes of his own.

We are really trying really hard to become ecstatic about the hire. I hope that they are wrong as well. A lost decade would be hard to come back from.
Yeah it feels pretty Daz'ish. I hope I'm wrong. It's going to seem like a decade until spring football arrives and we can see this choo choo train.

I really wanted the new hire to be someone exciting. We needed a splash to invigorate this program imo. This just feels like we ran out of options

I think he will do his very best, which is all we can hope for. The bar set by Muschamp is pretty low...which is a plus for whoever the new coach would be. The negative records set by Muschamp should not be in jeopardy...another plus. The Gator Nation should rally around him...we'll know soon enough whether this is going to work out.

The other thing is that no schools with coach openings better not get a better coach than this guy. Foley would not look so great.

Mullen may get Nebraska or Michigan but no way was Foley going to get him. I am kind of glad he didn't.
