Nice win for the good guys in a strange game to ensure the series. Now time to get greedy and get out the brooms. Close game until the bottom of the 7th when a horrendous defensive play by Vandy opened the floodgates. Vandy is usually good defensively, but in these first 2 games they have been awful and practically gave us the game in the 1st inning. Bottom 1st, 2 out, runners on 1st and 2nd and JJ at plate with a 3-1 count. India takes off from 1st base (inexplicably) on next pitch and Liput stayed at 2nd. Catcher throws down to 2nd base, who runs India towards 1st base and throws to 1st baseman. Liput then takes off for 3rd base and instead of the 1st baseman keeping India in run down to end the inning, he throws to 3rd base where he short hops the throw, allowing Liput to 3rd and India to 2nd. JJ then singles to center scoring 2 runs. Our mistake should have ended the inning but Vandy's blunder gave us life and JJ delivered. JJ also had a beautiful double down the right field line in the 7th. Would love for JJ to hit more balls up the middle and to right,
Bottom 7th, leading 3-1. Dalton singles in a run and JJ doubles him in, making it 5-1. Breathing room but still a game. Langworthy then skies a pop between home plate and pitcher's mound where 4 Vandy infielders converge and the 3rd baseman makes the attempt. any of them could have caught it, but it looked like the Bad News Bears with Walter Mattheau as coach. That hit ( they actually scored it a hit, LOL), led to Bell's 3 run dinger 2 batters later and it was over. The good thing today was we were able to score when given those opportunities and that is big in the SEC.
Kowar was good, tho his pitch count got high with a few unnecessary walks, but other than that he was solid. Bullpen is fresh but hopefully we will not need them much tomorrow and Dyson can be solid. India looked like he tweaked his knee in his last at bat, but hopefully it is nothing serious. Can't afford to lose him!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all seven runs today scored with two outs?7th inning has been magic against Vandy. 5 runs last night, 7 today. Pitching and defense solid as usual.
You are correct.Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all seven runs today scored with two outs?
Exactly right. Baseball is a long season and I hope they're not peaking too soon. It's not always the most talented team that wins the CWS, but the one who gets hot at the right time. We've had much more talented teams in the past than last year's national champs. They do look great in all phases of the game, but we have to wait and see how it all plays out.Heading towards the CWS, is there room for improvement, with seasoned experience. Gotta be at peak come tournament time.

Series sweep for the good guys, but man that game was dragging that even I had to leave with the Gators up 6 runs. Every starter had a hit except JJ, but he did line out hard to 2nd base and hit a rope to left field that the Vandy defender made a great catch on. But JJ had a good weekend with the bat (as did the entire team) as he used all fields and hope he continues taht. Dyson loaded the bases in the 5th inning and with one out, Butler came on and got a strike out then a weak grounder that he had to field on the run and made a nice play to shut the door and that was the last gasp Vandy had. Vandy did not look nearly as good as they have in the past 5 or so years so I think they were a bit overrated, but nonetheless, a great weekend for the good guys and a series sweep is very difficult in this league, Tuesday at home against FGCU and then next weekend at the Tinerc HillBillys!
