He was the best coach MSU ever had. EVER. Their bowl record before he came was 7-6. That’s 7 bowl wins in 115 years. He went 6-2 in bowls during his tenure there.
I wasn’t a fan of the hire, but to try and say he wasn’t successful there is just bullsh*t.

MJM, the bowl record is a little garbage in this day and age. When most of us were growing up there may have been 20 bowls games. In the 1980s there were 15 bowl games (30 best teams), in 1997 it was expanded to 20 (40 best teams). Currently there are 43 bowl games with 130 teams, so the 86 best teams (65% of FBS schools) go to a bowl game. You don't even haven't have a winning record anymore.

I unfairly jumped on the opening portion of his comment. The rest was pretty spot on. Saban was smart enough to take something out of each stop along the way.

Don't forget his stop in Cleveland where he learned organizational habits from Belichek
