I was listening to Full Ride a few days ago and they torched UF, specifically Stricklin. Childers went on this rant about the money he’d spent and how he fired a successful coach who was well respected in the business, spent a fortune to create all these new staff positions, and got 6-6 out of it. It was largely to appease Mullen, who is one of the cohosts along with Nuheisel, and Dan even chimed in about the new facilities and new budget that he’d never had. It was an awful few minutes. Of course, no mention of last year being the same or worse. Just crushing the terrible decision by SS to make the move he made. Napier really needs to finish this class strong and have a substantially better year next season, if for no other reason than to stop the perception that he was a downgrade, because that’s what the national media are largely running with, which can create perception and damage recruiting.
Somehow the fact that the media are dogging BN make me like him more and think that he just might work out.

I think our annual game against the clowns was mandated by the State Legislature.
Really?

USA Today rating new coaches

D+

Billy Napier, Florida (6-6)

Napier's first team got to bowl play with six wins but lost every game that mattered, including rivalry matchups to Tennessee, LSU and Florida State. The Gators also managed to lose to Vanderbilt, which would be enough alone to drop Napier a full letter grade.
Based only on the on-field play and results ... I agree. The plus may be generous.

However, this year's recruiting class weighs 70% of the first year grade. (for me anyway, which is why I didn't watch many games).

He could still grade out a high B.

The average across the country last year was 15% of the rosters entering the portal. This isn’t unique to us.

Hell, have any of us been upset with a single player who has entered the portal? We were wanting to free some spots up. I'm pleased so far.

Haunted has a severe case of NDS and sees a Gator disaster behind every bush as a result. Next he'll claim that it was Billy himself who supplied Kitna with kiddie porn.

It’s just gonna make our roster even younger. It’ll be ‘24 before it bears any fruit.

35 to 40 newbies (recruits and portal) was the forecast a few months back.

Yep. Back to the sixties and seventies when Alabama would have 150 players on scholarship that included nearly all the top talent in the southeast.

Good bye college football, it’s been fun knowing you.
That would never happen these days. No kid from today will sit behind so many players.

Napier could never win more than 6 games, and he'd still be a major upgrade over over that hunchbacked dooshbag.

Not entered into a law. But yes a bill was presented on the floor of the Senate. The Florida "Board of Control" with the Governor got it done. Here's the article.

@MJMGator was right to a degree but the vote failed on the floor of the Senate. It was ordered by the Florida "Board of Control" at the time. And yes, they were ordered to play in ALL sports.

How Florida Was Ordered To Play Florida State

It's down near the end of the article.

Not me, don't let the door hit them in the azz when leaving. Not upset at all! But if anything I was more pi$$ed about players like Whittemore that just flat out quit without finishing the season. Evidently some finished it out and kudos to them. That should be more of an indication that anything remotely associated with DypShyt Dan needs to be flushed immediately. And with that said, think of how those leaving effected the team (not all bought in). Could be a lot of the issues that BN was dealing with. We knew it was bad, but we really may never know exactly how bad.

From that article...
"Finally, a still angry and now agitated Governor Collins ordered both President Campbell of Florida State and President Reitz of Florida to return to Tallahassee to meet with him and the Board of Control.

Collins would later be quoted..."there are some things that are better off not being mentioned in the sunshine," when he was asked why the meeting was behind locked doors.

The only thing known for certain is that when the meeting ended the Board of Control announced that Florida will play Florida State in football next year.

The headlines of the Tallahassee Democrat stated..."UF-FSU FOOTBALL ORDERED".

FSU-Uf annc. head
It would later be determined that the University of Florida did indeed have some contractual issues and they were granted a grace period from the Board of Control, and were ordered to play Florida State in 1958.

Fiction: There was never a law enacted that ordered Florida to play Florida State in Football.

Fact: The State Board of Control Ordered Florida to play Florida State in Football."
