That is how the govt got Al Capone..he didn't pay taxes on ill-gotten gains.

Yawn, MOM!

Yes every 3rd grader by now has heard that back in the 1920s and 1930s the US federal government was too corrupt and incompetent, not unlike today, to bring charges and get a conviction on Capone for any federal crime in connection with his bootlegging etc. So they got him on income tax evasion on the proceeds of these actions.

That however does not address the question of whether during prohibition the US government generated more income on taxes paid on income from bootlegging in 1932 or 1933 or whether in 1934 or 1935 the US government generated more income on taxes paid on legal alcohol transactions. I would be willing to bet, I know the answer, but i have not studied it.

I bet Hard Rock and Disney open up some action in Florida pretty soon.

I was very surprised to see Florida was not one of the "within 2 years" states (or even a "5 year" state, for that matter). I agree that the Hard Rocks would be likely places for sports betting, but wonder if you're serious about Disney. They don't even allow gambling on their cruise ships. Disney will never be affiliated with sports betting.

A few decades ago, Disney would never be affiliated with Miley Cyrus. Things change. Nothing would surprise me.

Agree w/ the Hard Rocks....and not sure on Disney. I can see all of the Race Tracks (Dogs & Horses) having it...and Jai alai places doing it - most of these venues allow you to bet on races happening at other tracks as well.

I'm curious if this will ease the rules on online sportsbooks (or 'off-shore' online sportsbooks).

Still a felon.

Frankly, the prosecutors took the EASY route. They should have just prosecuted him for cocaine trafficking.

BTW, I thought the defense of "you cant trust my friends bc they are drug dealers" was masterful.

I didn't realize the NCAA could work this fast on anything!!

NCAA revokes ban on holding championship events in state's that allow sports wagering

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/s...pionship-events-states-allow-sports-wagering/

The NCAA Board of Governors suspended the Association’s championships policy related to sports wagering. The board’s decision will ensure championship location continuity by temporarily allowing NCAA championship events to occur in states that offer sports wagering.

The suspended policy prohibited any NCAA championship competition from occurring in any state that allows single-game sports wagering.

The Board of Governors may consider more permanent revisions of the championship host policy regarding sports wagering during future meetings.
