And yet Mustcrumb had a better offense. Unbelievable
That play is indicative of our time under McElwain, post the OM game. Probably 75% of the time, a blocked punt is blocked well enough to cause it to stall, or even go backwards. We get a blocked punt, and it still is a net 11 yards for them. That play, combined with the holding penalty on Thompson's TD(which was right, but probably inconsequential) likely have a major impact on the game. To your last point, though, I'm not sure the right guy can't come in and immediately spark this team. We need help in certain key areas, but there's enough talent on offense that we should be able to score points. And the defense isn't as devoid of talent as the offense was when JM took over from WM. It does suck, however, to be having almost the identical conversation less than 36 months later. Yeesh.
This was hilarious and frightening at the same time.
I'm just wondering if and when a change is made if we stick with a pro-style coach, cause the roster should be setup for that, or go the spread route again, but then the roster will have to be overhauled to fit the spread.
meh, i think the roster is setup for exactly what we currently have, garbage. It doesnt matter which offense we go with, someone has a serious rebuilding job ahead of them. Mac has been an abysmal failure with regards to roster management.
We have some small receivers already but we don't have a young QB to run anything like Meyer ran with Tebow. I don't think Toney is cut out for QB
Toney has been learning more slot recently according to reports.
^ think Hines Ward going to the stealers. Would have been a qb washout vs hall of famer
Mac says "don't know when he'll ever be back." This is in keeping with Goolsby violating Mac's whole team concept = Goolsby is the only one not doing credit card fraud.
...in UF's routine next question "who's on last?"
Let this be a lesson learned and don't let it happen again.
This whole "rebuilt the offense" mantra is crazy talk. We have a couple of nice WRs, not game changers by any stretch, and some "mehhh" RBs. The offensive line is still a disaster and the TEs are nonexistent in the passing game and can't block. Qbs? yeah. A freshman that is probably two years away from being ready and some 2nd string caliber guys. The defense is straight up crap other than DE and some hope that a couple of DBs will develop. On defense we are playing walkons or freshmen as soon as we have a twisted ankle at eight positions on the field. This is the least talented team since 1979 and it isn't even close. We can pretend those terrible recruiting classes didn't happen but it won't change what happens on Saturdays for the next couple of years.
Hang tough, bro. I didn't know for sure either and try to block all memory of the game from my head.
Mac's esophageal spasm moment. Or like Zook, his frat party fight moment. I'm sure we'll just remember it as his Hump The Shark moment. That point from which there is no return. When a player learns of his injury status from some one other than the staff then you can be damn sure they are prolly learning rout running from youtube videos.
Not totally disagreeing with you, but a great coach could come in and make something of Franks/Allen/Corral throwing to Robinson/Hammond/Cleveland and the RBs we have behind Scarlett. Not to mention the line that at least has bodies now. Again, not perfect, but doable. Recruiting has largely been bad, but it's more coaching at this point.
The right coach could do something with the players we have.
Yep, maybe not take out Alabama but score points and stop being blown out at least.
Mac says Goolsby should be back.
I was always partial to the elephants on those Animals Gone Wild shows. When those fcvkers get pissed, go ape shat crazy and start stomping their abusive handlers it's really an eye opening sight.
