So reading all the ass hurt reactions I'm assuming we don't want to dominate anymore....just be good enough to win 10, get a bowl opponent that shouldn't even be ranked, give them a moral victory, finish in the top 10 in recruiting even though that leaves us 7th in the conference? Did I miss anything?

I see pumpers who believe we will win it all and dumpers who won’t be satisfied until we do.
I honestly don’t see anyone who is stating they will settle for 10 wins every year.

I like Dan I really do but even he knows that he's putting band aids on this thing and trying to "massage the base" into being OK with winning 9-10 games a year....It could be worse BUT I'd prefer to get back to being the team that no one wanted to play, not the one who lets the Uvag's of the CFB world score moral victories for their goof ball coach...
Nice post, we'll get to a million yet!

If you did a non-anonymous poll, you’d probably see many pumpers uncertain of reaching the top under Mullen. He’s passed the first step. To borrow from his own words after the OB, now comes the hard part.

So what do you think? Can they do it?

Can they do it? Well, you and I have been around long enough to know stranger things have happened.

Will they do it? Not anytime soon IMO based on past recruiting classes moving into the upperclassman rank, the lack of a proven dual threat and the terrible lapses in our pass coverage. That’s a lot of holes to fill.

well, I guess a misconception is the FAU roster,

Rivals Rankings
2015 - 23
2016 - 14
2017 - 9
2018 - 17
2019 - 8

If there is 130 teams, we should out talent most of the teams in the nation, regardless of coaching. Most the teams we play on an annual basis we should win on talent alone. UVA's top class in the same time span was 39, and had two classes in the 60's. So we should have won this exhibition game on talent alone. I know you are just itching for a stupid argument. But win you only play 2/3 games against teams with equal or better talent, and one of those teams has been in a coaching tire fire..... we should win 9/10 games just with our talent. That's not being a pumper/dumper.. that's just fcking logic.

If your average recruiting ranking is 14, you play a top 10 difficulty schedule and you wind up ranked 6th or better, you’re punching above your weight.

If you’d been on a 10-year decline and get 2 consecutive top 10 finishes, you’re improving.

That’s logic.

Mullen gets it:

"You've got to grind," Mullen said. "It was tough to go from 10 to 11, it's even harder to go from 11 to 12, the mental and physical toughness that it takes, the preparation that it takes starting Jan. 6 when we get back and when the 2020 team is born.

"We're going to try to enjoy this for a couple days, but January 6th we have a team meeting and that 2020 team will be born, and the mental toughness that it takes to come in day after day, work, push, get yourself better. We have to do more than we did last year, get better than we were last year,

"We're going to work harder starting Jan. 6. We've got to work harder next year than we did this year and try to get from 11 to 12. Once you get to 12, you might get a couple extra ones in there."

Yes - perspective. We all want to win championships. Some of us understand it won't happen overnight.

And btw, are you seriously awarding uva with a moral victory? Does that mean our W is actually a moral loss? Is that the basis of your misery? Or did someone kick the puppy you got for Christmas?

I don’t get it either - we ran the ball well. Crete should be stoked. Just can’t please some people.

2017 = 4-7
2018 = 10-3
2019 = 11-2

Yeah, I don’t analyze schemes well. I don’t know Mullen personally...and as a fan I do sometimes question his calls... But it’s pretty clear the guy is doing a helluva job thus far. Would you agree or no?

Did you even watch the game? It was all they talked about with Uvag's coach saying they wanted a moral victory by keeping it close.... we should have bi!ch slapped that thought right out of their ear holes before half time instead of letting a 2 man offense make us look like a Monkey f vcking a football on defense.

You guys realize their very average QB was 2 missed wide open TD's in the 2nd half from sending us home with what would have the 2nd most embarrassing loss in school history.....

We have no idea what would have happened if they had scored a TD. Everything from that moment on would have been different. I say we would have answered with Perine bulldozing his way to yet another TD. Prove me wrong.

I still think you're missing the BIGGEST part. The biggest difference I see from the 3 best teams this year and in recent and not so recent past is they look pretty on offense but they can literally maul your ass on both sides of the LOS......What did SOS say after losing to Nebraska in 95? "We've got to get a helluva lot stronger up front"...….

I think its pretty obvious that there needs to be some work on the defensive side of the ball. There is absolutely no excuse to get burned as much as we do. We'll never win a championship without more elite play on that side of the ball. It seemed like Grantham was ready to head out last year but it seems like he's settling in now unfortunately.

You’ll get no disagreement here. I just broad brushed the situation. There are many issues to be addressed, certainly enough that it seems unlikely they we make that next step for at least a couple seasons if at all.

And you're keeping that stupid narrative alive by discussing it more, as if it was a valid point.

I already stated I wanted a more convincing win. Gators got sloppy/lazy in the 3rd, so we didn't crush them like we should have. However, DM woke them up and finished the game. It's not a perfect W, but it's a W.

BTW, 2nd most embarrassing loss??? I thought that was arky?

I think we recruited some bmf's this year so we switched to b@tching about receivers.

Winning a national title has to be one of the most enormously difficult tasks any humanoid can take on. Look how good Ohio State was. Out. Bama, out. Either Clemson or LSU is going to end up as bridesmaid.

You have to be maniacally driven, good at a lot of things and a little bit lucky all at the same time to take a team to the top.

Mullen has accomplished a rapid turnaround, but he himself was being completely candid after the OB when he acknowledged how difficult the next step is.

If it weren’t, we wouldn’t all be sitting in front of our laptops counting stupid posts. We’d be jetting off to Greenland.
