@oxrageous please give this insufferable movie snob a vacation if he ever again disrespects something that's in the canon of brocinema. First it was Tombstone, and now Rocky IV. Three strikes and he's out.

Maybe we could do an 8-movie playoff to determine things. All of the major producers get one film, a couple at-large choices, and of course, even though unaffiliated, Rudy has to have a way in.

Would some have an easier path or draw? Sure. But it’s the only fair way to determine which one of your favorite movies sucks the worst.

Although I don't really agree with the NBA players' decisions last night, I respect and appreciate your courage to throw out a dissenting position on this board which is becoming more and more of an echo chamber lately.

I agree with what ox said about how the players seemingly have very little problem taking money from china with concentration camps and blatant citizen oppression, yet here they choose to continue taking a stand even though the NBA has already supported BLM quite clearly.

I think they should have found a different way to "protest" that situation (although I don't ever think there should be any protesting before all the facts come out). Anyway, I liked your post because at least it was one that didn't turn to hateful rhetoric, name calling, etc. that had been all too common on CNN, FOX, and this board.

Some of y'all need to chill and remember that people have more common ground than Tucker Carlson would have you believe.

Looking forward to the many "drunk," "wtf," "stoned," labels that I will be receiving for this post! Take care all!
Dissent is what makes America great. If not, then we’d be a one party dictatorship (like China).
Speaking of China, that’s separate and irrelevant to BLM/policing issue.

I agree, but I think China's involvement in the NBA and how big it is in the culture gives the players a huge opportunity to make a protest that is even more impactful on the world than they are doing now. I don't have a problem with LeBron and generally like him but didn't like when he stood up for China and against Hong Kong.

Definitely some "whataboutism" that I'm doing here though, I will concede that.

More forceful action by players regarding China definitely would’ve made strong statement about supporting freedom. But NBA players are foreigners, and China barely listens to its own citizens. It’s not like their government policies would change just to be able to watch basketball.

Those who say "I don't care about this NBA postponement" need to realize that a majority of our beloved Gator football players idolize these NBA guys and might attempt to follow their example. While the mix of politics and sports is beyond my tolerance level, that would really frustrate me further.

The Lakers and Clippers are wanting to cancel the remainder of the season.

Honestly, I think the players are tired of bubble life and are using this as an out.

As a matter of principle, why hasn't their been any "protest" by these players of the murders of other black people like David Dorn? I think we all know that answer....

By not looking into the facts and doing what they did and continue to do I would say our “common ground” is that we’re American and share a like for breathing and maybe Coca Cola...after that I could scarcely think of anything ideological we have in common...I will not support divisive rhetoric and refuse to accept that line of thought as part of my ideology...not downing your “glass half full” stance but I honestly don’t agree with it and see them as trying to force a narrative on people...remember when Tebow was told to shut up about the Jesus stuff? As long as the NBA is in business with China I can’t take a goddamn thing they say seriously while China rapes murders pillages and enslaves Africans to this day...I’m not gonna listen to a bunch of millionaires with bodyguards and a blind eye for the real problems in the black community cry about systemic racism...but carry on

on this board which is becoming more and more of an echo chamber lately.
It's not an echo chamber, there is plenty of dissenting views, even amongst the moderation of this board.

What you are calling an echo chamber is simply a common sense response.

People do not pay hard earned money to go be preached at politically. They pay it to be entertained by the sport they choose to spend the money on. It has nothing to do with agreement or disagreement with a political view, it has to do with "you took my money, play the fuching game!"

If these guys want to create real, long lasting change, then they need to get out in the real world, and create it, and they can do that in their off time. There is nothing stopping these princesses from opting out if the season entirely, but these fuching entitled pricks want their cake and eat it too.

Either play the damn game, or opt out and go create change. We don't pay for your fuching opinion.

Majority of NBA teams wanted to continue playing so that’s a good sign about common sense.
Wouldn’t shock me that LeBron made the decision to sit out with an eye toward running for office (LA mayor? Governor?) when he retires.
All other sports made their point and need to be bau.

todays gonna be very interesting regarding NBA meetings

Certainly not a pure echo chamber I will agree with you on that one.

I’m probably the only supporter of Biden and Democrats on this message board. Sometimes I wonder why the hell I still post on here. I guess I’m Gatorchatters token minority so Ox can say “You see, everyone is welcome on here”

It only becomes an echo chamber when opposition refuses to speak.
Don't refuse to speak then complain about it being one sided. (General statement not necessarily directed at you)

The problem here is people like Sas had been absolute trolls on this site. People can disagree without being disagreeable

There's no doubt in my mind you share more common ground than that. But my mind can certainly be wrong, and changes opinion on things sometimes. I mostly agree with what you say about china.

Is this decision going to affect change? Probably not. I can see why Bucks cancelled, but other teams it was more about being a follower than leader.
I do agree with the poster saying it would be good idea for more athletes to donate their time/money toward healing the police/community divide.

But they would never do that because that would require actual commitment versus posturing which these clowns have mastered

Then you are blind to others opinions here.

If Lebron James REALLY cared, he'd quit the NBA now and enter political office to help create the utopia he dreams about.

I have been speaking my friend, although I consider myself more of a moderate than anything so I do agree with a lot of opinions on this board, but far from all. I wish everyone on this board would take that last sentence you put in your post to heart.
