Just like 99% of all other job interviews and hirings, people are much more comfortable hiring a known vs an unknown. Its all about the relationships you build in life.
People are also way more interested in hiring a team player with a great attitude than a horse's azz who is a lockerroom cancer.

Here is an interesting perspective. Greg McElroy: Tim Tebow ‘wasn’t good,’ says he’s a ‘sideshow’ and will ‘piss’ players off

McElroy feels that Tebow has already been tried at the TE position when they played together.

He did line up at TE and H-back for the JETS. But it wasn't a full time position. But I would be shocked if it was in Jacksonville. Shannon Sharpe made a pretty astute break down, if they are bringing him in to be a tight end 100% this will fail. It's too late to learn a new position and play it against the best in the world at their position. If he is coming in as a "tight end", but more of a jack of all trades position. Some H-back, Short Yardage QB, some fullback, some tight end, etc... it would work.

No one denies Tebow is a good athlete, and he is getting an opportunity due to his relationship with Urban and being a mega star in Jacksonville. That happens in all professions. So whining about getting a shot is stupid.

Sour Grapes...McElroy was never the college QB Tim Tebow was. He was never the broadcaster Tebow was. He was never as popular as Tebow was.

And with Tebow on the field in short yardage situations...what's a DC to do? Do you cover him as a QB, FB, TE, Holder, RB...all of the above?

He does not need to be a great TE...He's a Swiss Army Knife.

The Saints did this brilliantly. It was talked about with Chip Kelly and the Eagles in 2015...Urban is just more adaptive.

Didn’t McElroy get sacked like 11 times in one game with the Jets? They eventually knocked him out on the last one.

All of you are going to be wishing you went to the game when you realize you won’t be eating those delicious concessions.

I've been reading articles and seeing videos for 2 weeks now that the jaguars signed Tim Tebow. Did they actually sign him? I mean it's not exactly like the tumultuous Dak Prescott Jerry Jones contract negotiations.

Good question and I have no idea. What I do know is that signing someone is meaningless at this point; it only gets them into training camp, they still have a huge mountain to climb in making the team. Hell, Franks signed with the Falcons, and he has as much chance at making that team as I do. It's not any real commitment at all.

I just looked at their roster; they only have three QBs currently under contract; Matt Ryan, A.J. McCarron, & FF. He's got a shot at making the practice squad (though I suspect they'll take a hard look at who else is out there after the final cuts).
