I agree. It's uncool that adults are piling on this poor girl at her saddest moment. I don't know how old she is, I'm guessing 13 or 14 as she's still not full-grown and looks like she's about 4'8, but she's not developed enough emotionally to deal with the big stage yet. Give her time. I also read that Larry Nasser abused her, sticking his fingers up her tiny vagina and so forth. If that doesn't give you PTSD I don't know what will. In any case, I get super nervous just watching these girls do their gymnast tricks or whatever, I can't even imagine what it must be like being them.

She's 24.

Who f-ing cares. She makes decisions, she lives with it. What's the point of ginning up animosity towards her?
That's how I feel about Grantham. Sometimes he just can't handle the pressure. We really should cut him some slack.

Honestly, I would be upset if I considered it a sport, but anything that has subjective scoring and not objective score... is just a hobby.

In basketball the team with the most points wins.
In track first person across the line.
In the shot put person who throws the farthest wins.

In gymnastics, if J dances really pretty on a matt, they will give him points. Then if GGG dances prettier the judges might or might not give him more points.

Thanks not a sport, athletic skill absolutely.. But if you have to depended on some cocksmoker (no offense sluggo) or some Urg minded individual to go fully injun (never go full injun). To award you points because it looked pretty, it's not a sport.

My original title was better but maybe too controversial.

BMF will hate this one

I only gave you one facepalm for the thread title....I thought about hitting you with a second one for being the first to respond to your own thread!

She takes Ritalin for ADHD which is banned in Japan and other athletes can not take without a medical exemption. I’m not sure if she was allowed to bring any of the drug with her to Tokyo or not. If she looks like a different person in the individual finals, then it means she was allowed to bring some of the drug and saved it for the individual events. She was allowed to bring Ritalin into Brazil for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

They were delayed from the time they were supposed to compete at by like 5-6 hours. An Adderall tablet for ADD will typically last about 5-6 hours and she'd probably be taking one tablet first thing in the morning then another 6 hours later.

So the schedule delay probably messed with her medication timing and she was probably coming down, maybe a bit jittery/swimmy/wobbly feeling. She'd probably want to time it to be between hour +1 and +4 when she was competing.

If your head isn't in it, and you know it,, you give someone else on the team a chance to get a good score, she knew she would blow it and get a lousy score, she put the team above her own ego.

No, she's definitely not a day over 12. Being 4'8 at 25 years old would mean she's been stricken with dwarfism and we'd be watching her do her routine at the Special Olympics with the rest of the retards. Either that or she'd have to be a crack baby. Are you the racist that's going to call her a crack baby? I sure as hell won't be the racist that calls her a crack baby.

I had a daughter in gymnastics for a while. All I have to say about it is if your head aint in the right spot you can get seriously F'd up. I totally understand what she did.
I was going to say the same thing. If Brady or Jordan played, they didn’t risk breaking their neck.

So are you saying that midget wrestling would be out of the question? I used to love watching me some midget wrestling growing up. Did Vince Mcmahon adopt midget wrestling into his empire?

SInce you put it that way... I was really pissed at Marco Wilson for throwing a shoe and losing us a game but I never realized maybe he forgot his Ritalin that day. Thanks for clearing that up. All is forgiven.

You’ve obviously never seen J dance. He’s terrific.

As for Briles, not only do I tend to agree that these “sports” are way too subjective, I also think in this case the uproar is almost directly tied to this newfound insistence on calling everything and everyone the GOAT. It used to be a cool acronym and mean something. When it makes its way into flavor of Pop Tarts discussions, it’s considerably watered down and silly. As the opening few posts pointed out, it’s definitely a signal of the weakness of today’s generation. But I think a major part of this story is the determination to shower her and other athletes—often along a consistent line—with accolades and this pressure, way beyond what is probably justified. In general, I don’t know exactly what she was dealing with, so I’m not going to pound in her. On the other hand, there’s no denying it’s not a good look and definitely stains her legacy. But that’s for her to just own and live with.

I also feel like I need to be honest here since we’re discussing her legacy. I’m not sure I’d ever heard of her until like a month ago.

You could tell she wasn’t there mentally during the prelims, though she still qualified for the all around. After her vault in teams competition she still wasn’t there mentally. She made a tough call, but right one IMO, as you can really mess yourself up on some of those events if you even make a small mistake.

She should have called Dr. GatorBart. I’m sure some of his herbal remedies would have helped her anxiety.

The fcking Olympics is suppose to be about PRESSURE!. Damn handling pressure is 50% of it. You are going out in front of millions of people to prove you are the best in the world. If you shy from pressure maybe you should try a different profession.

Ive already had my say on this over in the Olympics thread. What she did was quit on her team, herself and her country. I was surprised when she withdrew from the individual all around competition...still waiting to hear if she will withdraw from the individual apparatus competition. The example she set for those first time olympians and kids idolizing her at home is pathetic. When the going gets tough, quit. I wonder if there will be any downside to this for her. I'd be shocked if there were.

Downside? Hell no. She’s already got a Netflix documentary deal outlining what society did to cause her such harm. They’re paying her $10 million for the rights to the story. Oprah will conduct the interview. Prince Harry & Duchess Meghan will be flanking Simone on each side of the couch, acting as human therapy dogs.
