That’s where I see it completely opposite. He doesn’t get to hire a new DC. This wasn’t a candidate that just didn’t work out. If you knowingly bring in someone despised by the entire fan base, and then keep them this long, you have to go down with that ship. I do agree with chferg that we have to be very careful and how we handle any coaching change from here. But I am a hard pass on bringing in a new DC at this point(like after this season).

Between learning and adjusting to a whole new scheme, and bringing in the personnel to run it, we’re basically looking at 2 to 3 years to see if he got that choice right. I’d be OK if it had been someone like Strong that just didn’t work out. Not TG.

Using a poker analogy, to me retaining Grantham, especially after the defensive performance last year, is like going all in with only a pair of 7's because you think you have the best cards at the table. The bad cards aren't the reason why the player lost. It's the player who decided to play a really bad hand who is responsible.
