so fsu tanks it after this weekend, but we haven't?

Losing to Miami eliminates FSU from bowl contention so the players will quit.

Our guys are still dreaming about the swag they will get from the Bowl game.
Every player wants some Wal-Mart gift cards and an official Birmingham Bowl shirt.

This will keep our guys focused.

Who doesn't want a tour of Hoover Metropolitan Stadium as a reward for performance deficiency?

Everyone should read this and then try to explain how you believe that Dan has a snowball’s chance to turn the program around.

Time to move on
It shows he is incapable of governing a program. If he let that go on and failed to see it or deal with it it shows he is weak and incompetent and not a head coach. Wait until the next major player fiasco happens. This is the kind of toxic environment in which depressed kids make career ending mistakes.

Five things Mulenz needs to do to right the ship (but won't).
1) Mullenz talks a lot about the Gator Standard. That standard is top 3 recruiting classes (with 3rd being a down year) Mullenz need to commit to bringing in top classes. He won't.
2) Play talent over seniority. Mullenz wants to be a teacher. That's okay for High School but this is the big leagues. We play to win. No more Heisman Trophy candidates riding the bench behind a bum with seniority.
3) Coach for the full 60 minutes to destroy the opponent. Running the clock out with 2 and half minutes left in the half is what losers do. Playing it close with inferior teams is what losers do.
4) Elevate special teams. Mullenz worked with the best ST coach in the game and learned nothing. We don't even have a ST coach.
5) Fire dead beat assistants. If none of them are dead beats then just fire one a year to keep the rest on their toes.

Top 3 classes has never been a standard here. Meyer had a couple good classes, Zook did too, but Spurrier while recruiting well, didn't achieve that. Top 5-8 each year with a top 3 every 3-4 years will get us there.

This is the hilarious bullshtt people pull out of their own ass.

SOS sometimes lost a player near the end of the recruiting season usually one that Bobby Bowden instructed to pretend to be a Gator.

Yes, there were recruiting rankings and mags back then who ranked the classes. we had a number seven class one year, people were pretty upset about it but it seemed related to having not that many open scholarships and a full depth chart with few seniors. I think it was 95. 94 was a consensus #1 class.

SOS had multiple number one classes, and many without Zook. He was rarely lower than number three or number four. He wasnt a damn thing like Mullen, although he is perhaps what Mullen would like to be, an actual offensive guru whose championships, stats and game film attracted the top receivers and quarterbacks, no questions asked.

If you're the flagship in Florida (or Texas or Cali) there's never an excuse for being lower than top 5, period.

However I guess the happy losers comtinue to redefine the gator standard as vacation frequently, fvkk recruiting and jjust edge out Kintucky with a "Top 10 class" , and call 8-4 a "championship year".

The entire foundation of this post is made of sarcasm. From floor to ceiling
The entire foundation of Mullens regime is "I'm a competitor". A true competitor does what it takes to win. Whatever it takes. Including canceling vacation.

Marriages often end because the husband or wife stop doing the charming, attractive things they did while dating and in the honeymoon period. Or they start doing things that are issues to the other party. The problem with your scenario is that Mullen, from day one, refused to do those charming things(recruiting, popular staff choices), and elected to do the negatives(Grantham, vacations) with full knowledge of how they’d be received by the fans. So as much as I’d normally agree that things could be fixed and may have hoped for this post ‘18 or ‘19, unfortunately there’s too much damage already done. He could do every one of those things listed tomorrow and I’d still want him launched and be rooting for him to fail at whatever he does going forward.

Life comes at you fast. Don’t be a jackass and expect good things. It rarely happens.

These recruiting rankings come courtesy of Alan Wallace and Tom Lemming from a recruiting piece published by CNNSI.com in 2002. How Spurrier’s 1994 class — which included Reidel Anthony, Fred Taylor, Ed Chester, Jacquez Green, Mo Collins, Ike Hilliard, Mike Peterson, Nafis Karim (Law has a life-size poster of this guy in his master bath), Terry Jackson and Travis McGriff among others — failed to make the top 10 remains a big mystery. It was his best class.

Lemming was terrible. Not quite as bad as Beano Cook (who always ranked ND #1 no katter what). Ive never even heard of Wallace. Someone who works for ESPN?

I won’t get invested in Gator football until Mullen is shown the door. It’s a waste of energy at this point fellas.

Former recruiting editor for Scout.com and publisher of SuperPrep mag. College football recruiting coverage was three guys working from a card table in their garage back then. It’s gotten a tad more sophisticated.
