While many of us are already salivating at the prospect of Mullet Head's immenent firing the reality of the situation that would put us in is all to real. Here are the current openings for college football head coaches and it's not even Thantksgiving yet:
  • LSU
  • USC
  • Washington
  • TCU
  • Washington State
  • Virginia Tech
  • Akron
  • FIU
  • UMass
That's a LOT of openings for UF to navigate through to find a replacement and we aren't even talking about staff hrings that would follow. Tough year all around....
Yeah but I'm sure we'll beat UMass to the party...

Only one of those schools should really even matter to us, though it does not include miami yet, which would. It seems like Lsu has a very narrow approach to these searches and doesn't deviate much. So unless it's Aranda or Tucker that we're after, they shouldn't ultimately have much bearing either. Nor would subsequent openings at Baylor or MchSt.

The miami situation is the one to keep an eye on. There are similar grumblings there about commitment to football, and the recent move seems to suggest the fans and influential former players got their wish. So I don't think we see another Golden/Manny type hire. They will likely go big with either Cristobal and/or Kiffin. Either of those would be a disastrous scenario for us from a recruiting standpoint. If there's a silver lining though, it may be that between NorveLLLL starting to gain some traction and miami making big moves(not to mention Smart), it may incite some of the boosters to insist on making a move now and going big.

So I think it's less about the timing and more about what we actually do this time. Outside of Lsu, we're the best job open on the eastern part of the country. We just need to strike, and then close.
I agree, but is still very similar to 2017, and I'll stick to that until we see (not "hear") otherwise.

I bet Mullen's phone has been ringing off the hook.

On that note, when does Mullen's show cause end so he can get another job without having to get permission from the NCAA?

I really think this is Mullinz problem. He hates recruiting. He'd rather be in his office drawing up plays or whatever. He doesn't want to be out on the recruiting trail kissing the butt of 17 to 18 year old kids. So, he tries to get away with the minimum. However, that isn't going to get you wins against bama, UGly or other programs who do recruit top 5 classes. The next coach needs to have a serious understanding of recruiting and has shown it in the past.

I thought he was in his office looking at VRBO and Hilton Resorts...

This administration has never done anything to convince me they have the guts (or desire) to do what it takes to build a championship caliber football program. Now, with all of the open head coaching positions on the market (even if they actually wanted to fire Dan), I do not believe they will want to compete with other schools for a new coach. It would be nice to see them flush the sh!tter, and then throw down the gauntlet in the coaching market, but that’s just not their style.

So, for multiple reasons, I don’t expect Dan to go anywhere.

According to Andy Staples, Mullen's buyout is 6 mil up front if he's fired and 1 million a year for the next 6 years unless his new job is paying him over a million a year. In that case it's zero a year from UF. So basically as long as Mullen is coaching football somewhere else next year besides a high school, all he'll get in buy out money is 6 million. No way he's making less than a million a year at his new job. That mother fucher is toast.

I bet no one gets less touches out of future NFL players than Douchebag Dan.

VT is looking for a new coach.
His next job is Southwest Va, at best.

Georgia Southern seems to love quarterback keepers. It's too bad he missed that opportunity.

His next job will have a geographic directiom in the name. Perhaps it will be Western Mich and he can square off for 5th place in the MAC w Sharky.

Let me get this straight, your idea is we entice Sean McVay away from the LA Rams to come to Gainesville and coach the Gators? A guy who has been exclusively coaching in the NFL since his early 20's and was hired as the youngest HC in modern NFL history where he has had significant success taking his team to the Super Bowl in his second year and currently sitting in first place in the NFC West? I don't know why no one else thought of this. Shoot, someone tell Stricklin before UCONN finds out and takes a pass on Mora or Ole Miss strings him along in case they need to replace Kiffin.
wow when you put it that way it sounds amazingly stupid.

then again it sounded stupid when he posted it the first time too.

I still remember keeping the Chump around for another year. It's obvious this admin does not want to fire him. Otherwise, why wait and see. Don't be surprised if the clown get another year.
Have faith, pops. They are just letting him step on landmine after landmine to make it clear they werent acting hastily.

screw the pooch.jpg I think they are researching to see if they can even land a viable candidate. This pooch has been screwed so hard he won't even get off the carpet for a pig ear.
