Check Publix for potential walk-ons...
hey that kid contributed more to the program than some 5*’s. Even scored a TD against UGA
Check Publix for potential walk-ons...
This is where my expectation is.Most, including myself, assumed we'd add a few and end up in the 10-20th range.
Good Christ, just getting caught up here. The hand wringing going on is so ferocious they can feel the breeze in Hawaii. That post Bait just made above mine is the most embarrassing post he's ever made. I couldn't even quote it, it was too cringeworthy.
Sofla has also lost his mind - never seen him like this.
As for Gibson, we don't know an effing thing about what did or did not go down. Are internet rumors now facts? Are you trying to tell me that Napier, who is a recruiting freak, simply "forgot" or deliberately blew off even talking to Gibson? We're supposed to believe this after he's done about ten in-home visits in 48 hours?
I think Gibson probably made it clear he was done with UF after Mullen was fired. Bye-bye, Gibson.
None of this worries me one single iota. None. Zero. We'll come out better for it.
Because we had like 12 total commits. There was some quality, but it was mostly that we were just not getting anyone. Most, including myself, assumed we'd add a few and end up in the 10-20th range. Not lose practically everything we have, including almost all the best talent, and have to sign 20+ just to get back to where we were. We're not sifting through anything. Again, there's no debating whether you take a Florida-Top20player outside of some serious character concerns that no one else sees.
The Dan naysayers here will go to any length like getting excited about Napier getting a visit from a big LB GaTech commitment that was set up at least 3 months ago. You are right that UF would have ended up probably in the 15 to 10 range with Mullen and certainly in the 20 to 10 range. It will be interesting to see where UF ends up now that we have someone who "takes recruiting seriously."
Sadly, we have a track record of transition classes at UF. The 247 site has ranked the five transition classes in the last 20 years:
2002: 10
2005: 12
2011: 11
2015: 21
2018: 14
I view this as the baseline recruiting for UF. This is what I mean when I say UF recruits itself. With the McElwain exception, these coaches, Zook, Meyer, Muschamp and Mullen all had very similarly ranked transition classes.
Maybe Napier will put together a class in this mold or better. Lots of high major jobs have new coaches meaning lots of players are potentially back on the market. On the other hand, that is not looking so probable today.
There was no early signing day when those coaches came in. They had 3 months to recruit; Billy’s got 2 weeks.Sadly, we have a track record of transition classes at UF. The 247 site has ranked the five transition classes in the last 20 years:

Why do people have expectations that are not likely to happen or have the expected long term results? I expected a mass exodus as he will have to burn bridges to get the culture changed. Next year will be ugly. There’s no spinning this. It’s a shyt show.
I just wish I could comfort her right nowReports out that Evers mother calling remaining fl commits and bad mouthing BN

The problem is, is he burning bridges just with the recruits or their coaches as well. Coaches will look at their players and say, UF doesn't stand by their word. That doesn't help, Butters did a lot of damage to our brand with High School Coaches, Mullen did damage to our brand with High School Coaches... now does this have a lasting effect?
