Blockhead loves to argue. Tell us again about how the redshirt rule works?
Really stop and think about what you just said....Bama has dominated the last 12 years and won a bunch of NC's because they are the most talented team year in and year out....Do you not think we were the most talented in 2008?
In football the most talented team wins probably well over 90% of the time. Yes there are upsets from time to time.
It really boils down to me touching a nerve in this thread and I get it...I didn't want to get smashed by UCF either(or USCe, Mizzou, UK or taken into the 4th quarter by a HS team on Senior Day) but it happened. Making excuses like grown men(I guess) are doing in here is downright embarrassing....
Yes.... so you want to win 10% of the time or 90% of the time?If your stupid logic was true, it would be 100% of the time. You've now admitted that talent doesn't always win and GASP! other factors may actually come into play.
Checkmate.
Well, well, well.....speaking of guys who know something about chunky Barner chicks...Blockhead loves to argue. Tell us again about how the redshirt rule works?
More times than not when it comes to CFB in an opening game they have nothing much to base a spread on...yes they might use pre season ranking, home field if there is one, but more times than not the more historically relevant team will open as a favorite....this is well known. No, they MOVE the line based on money that is bet. They can't "form a line based on money already bet," because if there was no line, how was money already bet?
What "situation at hand" are you talking about here? What you described was not the situation going into the Gasparilla Bowl game, which is what I was talking about.More times than not when it comes to CFB in an opening game they have nothing much to base a spread on...yes they might use pre season ranking, home field if there is one, but more times than not the more historically relevant team will open as a favorite....this is well known.
Now lets look at the situation at hand as discussed. You have one team coming off a losing season that lost all of their decent players to transfer or exhausted eligibility. That same team is starting all over with a new UNPROVEN coach, new system and didn't really have a stellar recruiting class OR to this point bring in a lot of true difference makers in the transfer portal. This team does not have a named starter at QB although it appears there is one often injured one is on the horizon.
The other team has a very talented returning QB(was injured almost all of last year) has plenty of returning talent around him and on both sides of the ball and AN ESTABLISHED COACH in his second year where most likely he will see huge leaps the odds spread the returning players executing that scheme....
If this were a neutral site game I'd find it hard to believe it would be more than a 1 or 2 point spread either way until the betting money shifted one way or the other....
If the 2 teams played a neutral site game to open next season. Who would be favorite? Some here are trying to convince me we are at a HUGE talent advantage that Vegas and everyone except me knows about....What "situation at hand" are you talking about here? Maybe I misunderstood you -- were you not arguing that UCF had more talent on their roster than we did for the Gasparilla Bowl?
Oh okay. My bad. I thought you were talking about the comparative talent at the time of the Bowl game.If the 2 teams played a neutral site game to open next season. Who would be favorite? Hell I tell you what....what are the odds going to be with Utah? I'll bet we have a HUGE talent advantage over them too....
UF absolutely has a talent advantage and the home field and will be favored. The Gators will cover the spread. If the 2 teams played a neutral site game to open next season. Who would be favorite? The question again is, why were we favored by a touchdown?
To be fair he said if they played at a neutral site, but either way I agree with you.UF absolutely has a talent advantage and the home field and will be favored. The Gators will cover the spread.
Interrupting Auburn boy’s posts to let everyone know there is a recruit committing today. Sir Arlis Boardingham III is deciding between Oregon and God’s team. From what I’ve read, he is expected to choose to serve God and play for UF.
