Did I miss Rashada's commitment to UM? It sounds like a done deal. If so that definitely sucks but life goes on.
He's supposed to commit Sunday the 26th. So in 2 days. The issue with Rashada is Cristobal was recruiting him at Oregon. Was one of the first coaches on him. We were late to the game and it's now beginning to look like he used UF to get a better deal out of Cristobal and UM because it's coming out now how much he likes Miami and how it resembles his home. There's also the whole keeping the UM official visit secret until after delaying his decision that kind of points in that direction also imo.

I haven’t followed it nearly as much as you, so I will take your word for it. I knew we were later than some of the WC schools but also thought that we had been a lean for several months and had some connections to the family. I thought um was the latest. Again, you may be right.
He has been plugged in with Cristobal since Oregon days. Oregon faded from his list and scUM came into the picture. He first visited scUM back in February. Ruiz has been intimate with the family due to the miami immortals. We didnt start talking to him until late April. UF is the guy late to the Rashada party.

With that said...who cares if we finish 2nd.

I dont think for a second that we are poor. I do think Ruiz is hemorrhaging cash at an unsustainable rate. I also think there has to be a lot of thought put into how much you pay a high school kid to come into your pre-existing team family because it is going to shake up the dynamics. I wonder how much AR is getting and how much that affects it all.

I think our coach is playing the long game while scUM is playing short term. Its going to be interesting to watch places like scUM and USCe, who have to go heavy for a handful of 4* recruits to join a team that have some equally talented (or they feel that way) players not getting the same deals. Its also going to be frustrating watching places like aTm and ugly that have much deeper pockets than us who are coming into the NIL game already locked and loaded.

I dont think I can really go tos much because it is full of a bunch of idiots who demand we spend millions of dollars that isn't their money out one side of their mouth with no clue of what is actually going on and then talk crap about our coaches/players/boosters out the other side.

Personally, I really want Rashada as he looks like the perfect QB for Napier's offense. If scUM get him along with J Brown...sigh.

Well, not really. Cristobal was one of the firsts to the party and Rashada has been tied in to Miami for a while. After all, he has been playing on the 7v7 team sponsored by Ruiz. Napier and Florida are the late to the party ones. Not sugar coating it, just keeping it real.

@neteng...What? Logic? That's not the Chatter way. We are Bipolar in Sports: O&B Pumper or Debbie Downer.

That pragmatic approach will never do

If Jack Miller is the starting qb in year 2 then stricklin gets fired and Napier's gone year 3.

I think there's a play here. Take the money from rashada 's offer wich was supposedly pretty good and try to lock down our big targets across the board. Take another late riser at qb . And hope like hell we can find a qb in the transfer portal this cycle. And really start pushing for a top '24 qb. That's the route I'd go here. And I hope this staff will evaluate what's not working here.
No way Stricklin or Napier will be fired in year 3 because Jack Miller is starting in year 2. That just isn't a very well thought out prediction...at all. There are so many plausible scenarios that have Jack Miller starting this year at some point and making judgements about what happens in 3 years from now because of that is just poor calculus.

This is the risk when you hire a head coach who hasn't been a head coach at the big boy programs before you hired him. These relationships start years in advance, and right now we're the guy scrambling 4 weeks before prom to find a date. I'm not knocking the staff for the amount of work they're putting into recruiting; by all accounts it's all hands on deck and they're putting the best effort forward that they can. This is simply the reality of the situation. There's a reason some of us were worried about Cristobal in Miami. The guy might not be the best X's and O's coach, but he's a powerhouse recruiter and has been doing it at big boy programs a lot longer than our guy. Add on the fact that he's at his alma mater? Sorry, but he's going to be a thorn in our side for as long as he's there. The only saving grace for us right now is that F$U is in a worse place than us.

As for Rashada, the optics of losing him to Miami is the worst part about losing him. Talent wise he has a good arm, but his accuracy is sketchy at best. He's not even the top QB on Miami's board, so that should tell you something about how other staffs are evaluating him. The other downside of losing out on him is losing out on the momentum landing a top QB can bring to a class. We need a huge talent infusion at WR, so it will be interesting to see how this miss effects the WR class. I'm all for taking the $ we were going to throw at Rashada and using it to lockdown 2 or 3 top WRs, but I've also been around long enough to not hold my breath on waiting for that to happen.

Just my personal opinion but I wasn't that excited about Rashada. If we landed him great but if not oh well. That scholarship would be better spent elsewhere. If Napier lands the majority of the top targets at DL, OL, and LB I'll be content. Load up in the trenches and flesh out the supporting cast around them.

I'm not jumping off the ledge yet but I'm going to be inching closer if some of these guys go elsewhere. If we can't get the top recruits now, the type of season we have will have little to no effect on recruiting. At least that's what history has shown us with top recruiters.
Im not jumping off the ledge yet either, however, lets not act like getting Rashada or not getting Rashada is ho hum. This is the QB they wanted. I dont think many take into account that it is very much likely that Rashada likes scUM more than UF, however, he was our top target and losing him to scUM is going to really make our fight for in state recruits even harder now. Our WR class will be affected.

However, I totally agree with everything else you are saying because its absolutely in line with what the coach said in his first presser. It will be a long building process, from the ground up start in the trenches. We seem to be doing exactly what you are talking about by loading up on OL and hopefully DL, LB and lets not forget DBs. That will have me content...for now. That will be the foundation of this team going forward.

But at some point we are going to have to get a QB to come here that will bring the O skill with him to get over the 10 wins a season benchmark and on to playing for championships.

I don’t disagree on the long game approach by Napier. He has said as much all along. But as always, I do think there are very necessary ways of balancing that. I also tend to think it’s irrelevant in today’s landscape. We see this all the time now. Coaches might be told that they’ll be given an endless amount of time to implement their vision, but I can assure you that same athletic Director is raising money through boosters singing a very different tune. That’s why you tend to see a disconnect after a few years. All of the vision and long game talk is fine, but you have to survive to be able to reach that point. I’m really not being overdramatic when I say this, but if there isn’t a substantial change in the trajectory of our current class, and we don’t resolve the QB concern moving forward, he is going to have problems.

Bingo. It's just the way it is whether you like it or not. And anyone with half a brain walking into a blue blood P5 type job knows it from day 1. If other new coaches can turn things around quickly on the field and the trail within the first 2 seasons, then there's no excuse for UF. The bump class is and always has been the tell tale sign. The coaches that have a big time haul of blue chips achieve major success within the first 2-3 seasons. The coaches that underwhelm on the bump end up fired a few years later. It's not going to be any different this time around.

If Jack Miller is the starter we have a losing season. Now if he starts because of injury then that's a different story. But you can bet your ass a losing season will have a coach on the hot seat the following year

Yeah...and no. If we load up on OL and the defense, which is the current trajectory of the current class, I think you are over estimating the problems. The previous staff burned a lot of in state high school relationships, and no matter how much some of the whiners say they dont want to hear it will take time, it will take time. With that said, current trajectory of a recruiting class is a snapshot in time taken from message boards, and when you factor in the amount of idiots we have contributing to that snapshot its always going to be doom and gloom.

As I have said before, and Im just a dude like the rest of us who isn't in the know of whats actually going on, I think Rashada is a big benchmark of how our class will fill out so I dont totally disagree with you. He was top of our board and we look to have missed. That affects our trajectory. But also, its still only June and we only have 6(?) commits of a class that will probably be around 30. Our trajectory is still a huge question mark, even without Rashada. Nobody even knew his name here about 30 days ago.

Lol...who makes that seat hot, you?

Dude...if it wasn't for the SC game, muLLLLLLLen would still be our coach. Furthermore, we aint even got through the offseason and into his first season of actual games (you know, the real measure) and you are talking about a losing season. GTFO and go back to places like 247 with that BS. And you want to judge Jack Miller on an OB game after just being on campus for less than a month or so. Whatever dude...

And you know this about Miller how? Remember he was a highly rate HS QB.

Check your history on UF QBs...Kerwin Bell comes to mind. And Napier did fairly well with a serviceable QB at UL.

Like SOS at Duke...Urban at Utah...winner's win. Was Duke loaded with 4*& 5* when SOS won?

Many of y'all are wanting to be Bama by year 2...It ain't happening folks...Even if Saban was here.

Phil 4:6-7 You look it up...I won't post that in sports. (it's good in all situations)
