no way he graduated so he is going to have to sit a year or go 1AATight end, Arik Gilbert in the portal again
Just glad to see you off the ledge, old hoss.
Having a veteran QB may actually make us more consistent on offense. We aren't asking him to throw for 400 yards a game.

Oh he's definitely walk on material, but by golly, he's getting a scholly! Is there any chance in hell that mertz is the preferred walkon?

There's optimism, there's blind pumperism, then there's this.
Without at least the *threat* to hit a deep ball and go vertical, defenses will load up the box and force us to rush vs a stacked front. See the bowl game for how that works out against a competent defense.
Mertz can't run and as you stated, he's not a threat to pop off 300-400 passing yards...especially with our WRs next year.
That's why people are annoyed. There were several better options in the portal and getting stuck with Mertz isn't a great reflection on Napier--and I say that as someone who generally has been impressed with his recruiting efforts generally (in both hs recruiting and via the portal).
If you mean consistently bad then you might be right. 57% passing this year and completely padded his stats in 3 games against Illinois St, NM State and Northwestern (1-11). Otherwise his stats were consistent all right. Notice his multiple sub 100 yard passing games. If Mertz is our starter next year we will struggle to repeat this years results.Having a veteran QB may actually make us more consistent on offense. We aren't asking him to throw for 400 yards a game.
Or wonder why the flick they won;t call QB runs or why the QB won;t take off running?Having a veteran QB may actually make us more consistent on offense. We aren't asking him to throw for 400 yards a game.
But he told me I was his favorite poster.I accepted a long time ago that ox hates me.
In truth, he hates all of us and you should accept it too.
Next year’s WR room just got better and I’m sure there will be a few more In the next month. There's optimism, there's blind pumperism, then there's this.
