Then you do that at the end of said, come back, when you have all the momentum and they’re in their heels. You don’t jeopardize the rest of the come back to pick up one extra point down to touchdowns. And if you don’t get it, any momentum you had gets completely snatched away in the crowd gets back in it. If you do it on your opening possession, then the opponent will need eight points just a tired. They can always be a reason for an extra one point. But it doesn’t make it right. It’s a moron move no matter how you slice it.

Oh no, you’re wrong. You see, the analytics card says you go for 2 there because the math overrides the emotional momentum mumbo jumbo you speak of (disregard the fact the analytics card is based on NFL rules, which are different than college because, well, that doesn’t matter). You see, Sun Belt Billy has a staff of 80 support personnel that say go for 2, so that’s the correct strategy.

How fun it must be to come home from work, have your wife ask you how it went that day, tell her it isn’t going well at all, and then laugh at how it really doesn’t matter because they’re going to pay you even if you’re fired.

That by itself should be worth an A+ effort level hummer from the missus right there in the foyer.

Paid him generational money, but what are you gonna do, everybody was after this guy, especially LSU... had to pay whatever it took before they snagged him. /s Competed only against ourselves.

Remember when the pumpers were laughing at LSU because the got “stuck” with Brian Kelly and saying we got the best end of the coaching sweepstakes? Good times!

Defense played well. Put in some bad situations. I did not like the mostly pass offense. 10 runs vs 44 pass? It didn't work.

How about Herbstreit saying he thought we looked big and strong, but slow. Believe he was talking about our front seven or LBs, specifically.

Didn't agree with him saying we looked slow, but did when he said we lacked a leader on that defense to step up. Hopefully someone emerges in that role this season. Didn't see it tonight. But, the defining moment in this game was that inexcusable penalty on a 4th down punt with the same number jerseys. I mean, come on! That's so stupid, it hurts. The momentum of the game completely changed at that moment and we never recovered.

I was wrong about Mertz, kid looked gritty and serviceable, he’s one of my least worries now. He still has accuracy issues but seemed more mobile and useful than AR. My issue now stands with the OL, Billy (which was to blame for a lot last year), his play calling and game management, this is where I sound the alarm….again! Offense and Special Teams will be his Grantham nail in the coffin if he doesn’t bring someone in next season, he’s not cut out for this! I love his recruiting and what he brings to the program but I’m starting to think he’s in over his head!

I still and also think the 29 year old D coordinator from sandlot making their 3rd stringer look like a Heisman winner blows too!

Sling Blade clearly has a good process off the field Monday-Friday and in the off season. But Slin
Blade has picked up right where he left off last season on game day between the lines. You can't manage a game like you think your team is supremely talented against the opponent. This team will never out talent any real opponent therefore you must manage the game completely differently. It is not the Belt Karl, and your talent level on the field surpasses no opponent, thus making your sideline ineptitude more apparent.t
He trains and drills with proficiency, the equipment in perfect ordrer, he’s assembled a huge support staff to handle every detail. But on the day of the battle, George McClellan was inept and indecisive, he wasted a lot of valuable time in an over abundance of caution. Communication was imprecise and ambiguous. And they got whipped on the field of battle, especially between the trenches.

It may be hard for many of you to accept but this was a game that we were destined to lose. Utah had every advantage and even without Rising, every talking head I listened to said Utah would score enough to win. Our margin for error is so slim that everything would have to go our way to win against a good team, on the road at altitude. Yes, we can break it down and talk about it for days on end but bottom line is, we were not prepared, mentally or physically, for the game. That's on the coaches!
One game doesn't make a season and I'm not ready to throw in the towel but right now, we are trending toward a sub 500 record. I hope we play better, at home, at least.

The only improvement I saw last night was our tackling. In the past we missed so many and the YAC counter was constantly spinning. Last night it looked different and was just about the only bright spot for me out of that abortion of a game.

Remember, this was the first game of the year playing away from home. I'm not expecting perfection from anyone.

I thought special teams had a number of severe problems and the offensive line was horrible.
Quarterback was OK and the defense played well enough to win the game if the team has a decent offense.
Special teams can be fixed.
I don't know if the OL can be fixed (maybe the players are just sub-par, I don't know). Regardless, without a decent OL, I don't think we will see many points against SEC teams and other ranked teams this season.
