To close, games like this always yield more questions than answers and we seem to have had too long a span of these experiences. I’m going to throw out an immediate goal for Billy, the staff, and the team…start with a win and follow it up with another one. Find a way to convince us tangibly that we are making progress. I think we all get that the kids are learning to trust each other and are trying to get better each week. We just need a way to better see it.

Go Gators!

:chomp:
Immediate Goal: Win a game on the road! If we have to schedule Austin Peay on the road, do it.

Sounded like he was about to cry when asked about getting manhandled.

Good write up Cover2........

I don't disagree with anything you said. But Football is a complex and dynamic game and trying to reduce all the crap we are seeing down to a couple simple reasons is very, very hard to do.

I think those who only focus on play-calling and lack of discipline are wearing blinders..... And those who only see lack of emotion are missing other aspects also.

What I see as being the over-riding issue is Stubbornness! An unwillingness to put your players in the best position to win. Trying to fit a round peg into a square hole! Not designing schemes and plans based on what your players can or can't do. Saying, " my way is the only way!" Even Saban had to change his method, he recognized his offense was getting left behind so he hired Kiffin....... So far Billy is trying to be what Bama was 10 years ago without the benefit of Bama Talent! Even when our talent level improves, the system will still suck because Billy is too stubborn to change!

I like Billy the person and I think he is a great recruiter but he is not the Coach UF needs or deserves. ( He needs to change or go away!)
Thanks and agree about the stubbornness. I think if Billy had Urban’s roster starting year two that he’d be much more successful, though might not win the NC because I’m not sure he’d retain or know how to get what he had to have from some of thugs, which all teams need a few, just not an over abundance. Those are the guys that know intuitively how to react to being punched in the grill and kinda like it. If that makes sense.

Most talking heads say Home Field is worth about 3 points.

The Swamp is not just any Home Field, I think the advantage to the Gators might be 6+ but not 10...... We lost by 19 today.....

I think we would have lost today, even if we played at home.

I’m still waiting for someone to ask him exactly HOW he intends to get things fixed. “It’s on us to fix it” doesn’t tell me shti other than I’m ready to get on the bus.

Honestly, I’m not interested in any coachspeak at this point. Either do the job you’re paid to do or pack your bags and hit the road. He won’t survive this but it’ll drag out another 13 months.

Good job Cover
tough day for the Gators I can’t think of any excuses except we got beat pretty bad at both lines of scrimmages, had some calls that went against us that hurt but I don’t think those calls if not called would have made a difference today

Our OL is veteran enough (0 freshman or true sophomores) to not get manhandled like that vs an average UK team. Inexcusable for BN and co. to have them so unprepared

Unfortunately we don’t have an AR like specimen back there to make our OL look better than it is. Maybe we can add a 3rd OL coach, I think that’s where the issue lies

While I don't necessarily disagree, it seems like the "we're a young team" excuse is recycled almost every year. Do we ever have any junior or seniors on our teams anymore?

Look, the answer is simple: the team mimics their ultimate leader, and that's laid back Sunbelt Billy, whose $7 million paycheck cleared for this year. He views himself more as some kind of "guru" who is inventing some never before seen process here and he doesn't much care if it works or not because he's getting paid either way. The players reflect it.

My issue just comes down to the scheme we choose to employee for our offense. Simply put it is predicated on the offense line being better than the defensive line, and then hoping to trick them to dedicate to stop the run so we can flood the zone with a pass. If the dline is > or = to the oline the whole thing falls apart. There is no plan B because the whole passing Offense is based on subterfuge and smoking mirrors. This makes the path to Victory very narrow, and why, in a season and a half, we have executed approximately one effective two minute drive. If we don’t have the threat of the Run, our pass game is wholly ineffective. It’s the exact opposite of the approach that has resulted in championships at Florida, and I am afraid it has a ceiling of 8 to 10 wins consistently based on how many defensive lines we simply out talent.

We are wallowing in the loser's argument. We suck. We suck because we have bad coaching that does not get our players ready to play, or maybe doesn't have that ability. Billy will not be long here at UF. We require a level of coaching that he cannot deliver, but he's a great recruiter. Let's keep him on in that capacity.
