Not shocked that those two were let go. I've been wondering if Raymond was actually not wanted by Brian Kelly at LSUck. Not sure of the timing of that and when he was hired here. Did Raymond see the writing on the wall at LSU?? @GatorJ do you recall anything about that?

Also was not expecting that he'd fire more than this right off the bat. And from what we're hearing there will be more. OL coaches are on deck, lets see what happens.

It sucks to know next season will be a waste of time. I have to wait until 2025 and a new coach before there is hope again. I'd love to be completely wrong and Budget Corndog gets things turned around. That'd be great! From what I have seen, I think the chance of that happening is so low. At least we have a lacrosse team now. Otherwise, I'd really be depressed.

After firing season, I'm gonna start a thread for teams to watch next year. So we can track candidates. Just to keep it interesting

Almost no turnovers by the entire defense, period. WORST GATOR DEFENSE OF ALL FRIGGIN TIME!
And that’s saying something after the last 3 years.

Main issue is zero QB pressure. Princely can’t get there or finish. No one else has pushed him to the bench.

2nd issue is our 365lb and 423lb linemen getting pushed around.

3rd issue is regression of our young safeties. Paralyzed by indecision.

Anybody rewatch their touchdown play from the goal line? While Watson (or is it Waston?) actually made quite a few good TFLs after Lyons was ejected, he's there for those goal line type plays... pushed back rather easily, just stood there.

Those bigs take plays off. 90% of them do anyway. Poor conditioning requires it.
That leads to little to no pressure and too much time for the secondary to maintain coverage. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Line of scrimmage league and we are poor there. It’s why we sucked.

Just too high. Low man wins.

But I think he was supposed to stunt left behind the guys to his left who slanted right.

Commandment #1 of line play. You can’t be the Fightin‘ Camel C*cks and ever expect to win in the trench.

BTW good to see you Law. Don’t be a stranger.

Football's a pretty simple game. Get to the quarterback and good things happen. When we were getting to the quarterback in 2019, the defense was top 20 in sacks and turnovers. That gave the ball to Trask & Co., who made good things out of it.

We actually improved this year in yards and points allowed, masking the fact we finished an abysmal 93rd in sacks and 96th in turnovers. For the little bit of improvement we made on defense, it was squandered by too few turnovers, big plays allowed and shoddy tackling. It starts with the defensive line. You have to pressure the quarterback.

I'm not real upset with cutting these two coaches - defence has been horrible for quite awhile. Don't know what AA can bring in to fit his staff expectations.

OL coaches HAVE to get cut. ASAP.

Timing of staff cuts doesn't bother me - kids know the landscape shifts quickly for them, and for the coaches. Tho, my expectation is CBN actually has replacements verbally signed up to back fill as upgrades at these staff positions. Bring in better names, better coaches, and they can retain/improve the recruiting immediately. I get some may be still working in programs that are actually going bowling and will be unable to announce for awhile, but as soon as their final whistle blows, we need them on the job here.

I absolutely hate having to say this, but that defensive tackle from Jacksonville last year that signed with uga had a very eye popping statement. Paraphrasing to a degree, but basically said the UF coaches talked about a whole lot of nothing. Cliches and corporate buzz words work for a time. But at some point there has to be tangible substance as well. And time is running out. Quickly.

Ask the lakers how Magic and Rambis worked out for them as coaches.

Great players don’t equate to good coaches.

Great players USUALLY make sorry ass coaches. Larry Bird being one of the few exceptions. Look at every great coach, at any sport, at the higher levels. Most everyone was a below average player. Coaching and playing are two different animals.

Good timing with the firing. Do it early, let the shock wear off, identify recruits who may be wavering, let the HC come in and smooze them back to the fold, tell the parents and recruits "we weren't going to lie to you to get you signed and then fire the position coach", yada yada yada. Also get a jump start on replacements.

Our DL underwhelmed and our secondary just sucked. 4th and 17 with not only a win on the line, but a bowl game on the line??? Secondary. Don't care who we recruit if they aren't where they are supposed to be. Look at fsu game. Secondary late hit on QB with game on line, DL spitting on fsu player, BOTH plays extending drives that resulted in points. Game changers, not in a good way. No discipline.

Plenty of stink on this coaching staff but I personally would not take a position with UF as I wouldn't have my professional reputation associated with this ****show.

and 96th in turnovers.
You may be looking at turnover margin, where we finished 102nd. Our total takeaways was 7 for the season which ranked 132nd out of 133 teams.
