How we feel depends on how the team looks. UF lost 3 games by 3 points or less last season. Let's say 1 or 2 plays had gone differently and we had won those games and been 8-4. Would we be excited going into this upcoming year because of that record? Of course not, because the team didn't really look that hot.

I'd rather look like a real competitive up-and-comer that put some scares into some top teams and be 6-6 than be eking out a 9-3 pile of crap. Either way, UF isn't competing for any championships next year. How we look is going to matter more than the actual amount of games won.
Those wins during the "great" seasons by Chump and McElwain always felt like schit.. they felt like a relief that somehow we pulled it off, we didn't look like a competent team even when winning.

Exactly.
A well coached team doesn't need heroics to win a damn game. It's easy to tune in and watch well coached teams all across the country, every damn Saturday in the fall. We all know what that looks like and we all know, the Gators are NOT a well coached team.
The problem for me is, we DID look like a well coached team in Napiers very first game. Utah in the Swamp.
It's been down hill every since.
Why?????

I don't get it. Is it the players just not buying in?
Is it the coaching staff that just can't establish any kind of momentum?
Is Billy just not a good head coach?

Whatever the issues, we look lost, out of position, and uninspired.
Given what the media has been putting out since ESD, the entire country sees what we see.

I don't see it changing either.
We did need heroics to win the damn game against Utah (but we did look pretty good doing it).

I don't know, Maybe.
They could have kicked the field goal and tied the game but instead, tried forcing one into the end zone that we picked to seal it.
I think, that was more of a bad play by Risling, than anything else.

Still, I don't want to take away anything from the team for that win.
Probably the best win we've had, in SB's tenure.
Utah................. :lol2: :lol2:

True.

But 2006 felt the same to me. Well, we were competent but it seemed like every game was too close for comfort.

(Except the NC game ... we rocked).

Winning is always better than losing. I don't care if it's ugly and obvious the refs cheat for us, it's better.

That was still better than looking like an incompetent team while losing, then rinse and repeat.

The symptom of "play calling issues," that was something that we could see in year 1.

It was obvious, Billy doesn't call a good game or manage the game clock well.

I wanted him to make a change last offseason and hire an OC, but he did nothing. Now, in this offseason, it looks like he will do nothing again.

Strick is is trying to obfuscate the obvious--Billy won't make it out of next season.

Well now I feel all warm and fuzzy. If that does not make all of us feel secure that the Athletic Administration is in good hands, nothing, will. :lmao2: Strichnine is even more of a DumbA$$ than I already knew he was and I did not think that was possible.

Yes. Is Beeely arrogant, small minded, ego driven? Don't know. I think he's simple minded, doesn't grasp the big picture. Needed an outstanding DC/OC but thinks small. Wants to emulate the structure of a successful program but doesn't understand the impact great coaches and minds have... at the same time, doesn't understand he thinks small-school.
