Early life, education, and academic career
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Brown earned a bachelor of science from Florida A&M University in 1969[1][2] In college she became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, one of four African American Greek letter sororities in the United States. She earned a master's degree in 1971 and an educational specialist degree from the University of Florida in 1974. She received an Honorary Doctor of Law degree from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, and has been on the faculty at the latter two schools and at Florida State College at Jacksonville.[3]

A graduate of Florida A&M University, Congresswoman Brown also has a Masters Degree (EdS) from the University of Florida. She is the proud mother of her daughter, Shantrel Brown, who is an attorney.

Wait... your telling me she makes $174,000 a year plus benefits and only has a net worth of $3501? That's not possible, she's not even buying $hit, she just basically either gives all her money away or loses it. Most people have more than $3501 worth of stuff they own just laying around there house. I have a uncle who is mentally retarded and the only job he has ever had is bagging groceries at Winn Dixie, he owns more than $3501 in video games. It has been declared unconstitutional and won't exist next election, ironically in part because hers created substantial advantages for Republicans in those areas. The new districts are more sanely shaped. She doesn't appear to have a realistic shot at reelection. Thankfully.
