If half of the six drops had been caught, LDR would have been 32/44, which is 73%. Which is definitely pretty good. Only 1 sack with over 40 attempts is pretty good too, especially given our sack numbers last year. For a first start, even against UMass, I think LDR did a decent job.
In baseball, a pitcher's ERA excludes is designed to not penalize the pitcher for errors made by other players. That gives a more nuanced view of who's performing well or not. Unfortunately in college football we don't see "catchable balls" stats on QBs and receivers very often.
Now if we can add more passes that go 15-30 yards downfield, we'll force the defense to cover more territory, and that should help to create more opportunities.
