Get ready...Also....it's great they're visiting Bama and FSU commits, but they better start searching for some serious Plan B players. Whiffing on DTs this year is unacceptable.
He's just switched the lack of recruiting along the LOS to the other side of the ball. Other than that its wash, rinse, repeat.Mac is a joke. He's taking Chump's destruction of the gator program and building on it.
We have 3 DBs committed. Toney might play corner, but that is a couple of years down the road. While we do need 1 or 2 more DBs, we need some f'in DTs. What is he doing about that? Here is who we'll have next year,
Khairi Clark
Tanner Rowell (walkon, 275lbs)
Taven Bryan
Cece Jefferson
Luke Ancrum
I list Cece and Ancrum because they have played DT at some point this year. Basically, we'll have 2 guys for next year unless I'm missing someone. Mac is a joke. He's taking Chump's destruction of the gator program and building on it. We could move a guy like Riles, but it usually takes time to learn how to play a new position. It is doubtful he'd be able to contribute.
It's almost guaranteed Riles plays DT next year. It makes the most sense. They could (and probably, should) move another OL over to DT, just for depth (with no expectations to start....just depth, 10 snaps a game). This would be a bandaid.
We also have Edwards (JUCO) coming in as an Early Enrollee (unless he flips to another school, God help us!). He's over 300, so we'll have 4 true DTs (w/ Clark, Bryan, Riles, and Edwards). CeCe will play the Bullard position (both inside and outside) and Polite will play DT - hopefully over 280lbs (ideally over 290, but he's only going to be a true sophomore).
Why on earth a HS DT wouldn't want to come here is beyond me. You'd think they'd be line up to play here. Any 290+ pound HS DT, no doubt, WILL play next year as a true freshman. They may not start, but they'll get a lot of PT (look at the true freshman this year at DE).
This could possibly show us just how inept this staff is at recruiting. There's no way you let Hansard flip, and guess what happened? He flipped. If Edwards flips to ARK, we are possibly staring down the barrel of THREE STRAIGHT YEARS OF NOT SIGNING A DT. The absurdity of that at the University of Florida is off the charts.
Summers is visiting Leatherwood today. They better get their over-paid, under-performing asses in some DTs and OLs houses!
Because they want to win and not be in the field all the time trying to cover for our putrid offense? Just spit balling ideas here...It's almost guaranteed Riles plays DT next year. Well they can't really stop anyone from flipping...they can't lock em in a room until signing day...This could possibly show us just how inept this staff is at recruiting. How did they allow him?You know exactly what I meant. It's perhaps our biggest position of need and we get a pretty damn good 4 star DT and we allow him to flip. Doesn't say much for this staff.
