While I agree totally, Zaire is going to be a gator no matter how we feel. I hope he does well.
Wuerfel missed the end of his Redshirt Freshman (SEC Championship game and bowl game) season due to knee injury. I don't think the others ever missed time.
This is groundbreaking information. They were in agreement that Franks really wants to start.
I'm not saying I hope he doesn't do well, I'd be happy if he came in and was a miracle taking us to a National Championship. I wish the guy all the best, I'm just disappointed more that we're having to look in other directions instead of having success developing the guys we recruited.
Zaire will fail if they don't retool the offense to use his legs and get him out of the pocket.
At this point, we are boned for next year unless we pull in Fields.

So you imagine a true frosh as the savior for next year?
There is some chance that Zaire will be a two year grad transfer btw.
... or another graduate transfer
Again I agree. It MIGHT hurt in future QB recruiting.
If I was Fields I'd feel pretty good.If you are qb thinking about Florida, and you see that Franks was lined up and they went out and actively got Zaire.. how would you feel?
Not unless he gets injured early this year.
Mike Huguenin at gridironnow said:... Zaire also is reportedly planning to seek a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA so that he could have two years of eligibility.
Zaire did not play as a freshman in 2013 and played in only the first two games in 2015 before suffering a broken ankle. ...
If Fields signs, he will be the only SEC caliber QB on the roster. I expect him to start if he signs, even if it is later in the year, ala Chris Leak.So you imagine a true frosh as the savior for next year?

Now what his chances are of getting that 6th year I can not say. I do think the NCAA now grants the 6th year more easily than it did in the past.

Its zero unless he gets injured early again according to the rules many people say. To get out of the 5 year window you have to have 2 early season ending injuries and the redshirt year counts as a year in that 5 year window.
Not really, originally to get out of the 5 year window a player had to have an injury that causes them to miss more than one season. So a few years back I would have said there was zero chance even with an early injury this season. But recently the NCAA has become more relaxed on that I think.
This is almost the funniest thing I have ever read on a UF message board. We are where we are now because Ron Zook sold his soul and the UF program to the Leak family. Talk about non-SEC caliber QBs. I believe Leak was the only full time starting UF QB from Kyle Morris to now not to be drafted.
Of course Leak was highly rated by the star guys. UF had a head coach who some who don't understand that player evaluation is part of recruiting think was a great recruiter. So UF got stuck with the likes of Leak.
So sure hope for another repeat of the Zook/Leak fiasco. Maybe UF football can spend another decade in the wilderness. I guess that is what you want.
That says it all. You like Kyle Trash and think Chris Leak, all SEC, freshman All American, and MVP of the Championship game, wasn't an SEC caliber QB. Oh, I forgot, all time leading passer, EVEN WITH BEING STUCK WITH THREE DIFFERENT OCs in four years and being forced to run the GD option---THE FVKKING OPTION!!!!--- for the last two years. This is almost the funniest thing I have ever read on a UF message board.
