Anyone see Neuheisel last night? He coached at UCLA and admitted they simply don't have the financial resources of the top programs. Now, if a booster did come along and promise a ton of money, what are they saying? Are they going to build Chip a stadium on campus? Help cover his salary? I'm sure it will help of Chip wants to go to UCLA; if he's truly in the air, its wait and see.
ESPN confirmed that UCLA bought out Mora's contract for $12M dollars. To me, that sounds like a school with plenty of MONEY and a school with a plan to pay whatever it takes to get who they want. You don't willfully pay someone $12M to go away if you aren't willing to pay a LOT MORE to get someone to come to your program.

Compare this to UF, and this hurts to say, that waited until the could get rid of JM on the cheap due to his unsubstantiated death threat claims and I would say that UCLA has plenty of money and is willing to spend it where UF may have just as much but is acting as if they need food stamps to keep the doors open. Again, UCLA paid Mora $12M to go away. You don't think they have a damn good shot at CK?

i think what is irking me the most is the 'west coast guy' label. i never found that to be a sticking point or concern when i first learned CK was being courted. just look at the facts and decide for yourselves.

chip began his professional career at NH in 1988, so that gives us 30 years as a working adult.

in those 30 years he's spent 9 years on the west coast (nevada, oregon and san fran) and 21 years on the east coast (columbia, john hopkins, NH, philly and ESPN)...this doesn't even account for his youth and adolescence in new hampshire.

so today, CK only works weekends and could easily fly into his place of work...but he still lives on the east coast.

my humble conclusion: chip is an east coast guy and the 'west coast' label carries no weight imo

Imo he’s a Gator, he’s using UCLA as a bidder to keep the NFL at bay so they cant try and prove he signed a contract and possibly take his $$ that they owe. If not the case, why not talk to other teams? Rumor is he shot down Tennessee, why do that when both UT and UF are both better jobs?

Butters got pissed off when the quarterback completed a forward pass too but he just wasn't likely to punch things
I wouldn't say Butters got pissed off. Its just that as it turns out, to him, its as difficult a job as an aborigine heading a moon mission.

Butters was gone before the death threats comments, it got expediated when he made those comments. Butters signed his day of execution the day he told Stricklin no to staff changes after bad mouthing the administration (not directly) on January 1st. The only thing that could have saved Butters was winning the East or SEC. Other than that he was dead man walking.

The only difference the death threats commits made were the $8.9 million in the removal.

That was one of the apparently many dozens of things listed on the for cause allegations. It just happened to be the one that made the news and was the straw that broke the donkey's back.
